Position Summary:
Implement automation and process control solutions for biotech product manufacturing processes. Duties include: working with process experts in determining automation requirements, developing specifications, implementing hardware/software strategies, testing designs, providing technical support for ongoing manufacturing operations, and working safely and efficiently in a high compliance environment.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Automation support: Provide on and off-hour support, on a rotating basis with the Automation Team, for automation systems and control software.
  • Lead/participate in execution of automation solutions for projects from conception to completion.
  • Lead/participate in production of automation solutions and support in compliance with BMS quality standards.
  • Conduct all job activities in accordance with cGMP and EHS requirements.


Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, etc:

  • Knowledge of products and technologies provided by major automation vendors, including: DeltaV, Allen Bradley, and GE.

  • Demonstrated experience in deploying computing hardware and communication systems that include PCs, servers, thin clients, Ethernet infrastructure.  Knowledge of instrumentation busses (Foundation FieldBus, ProfiBus, DeviceNet, etc.) a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in working with SQL tools and programming

  • Technical problem solving and analysis skills.

  • Good communications skills (verbal and written).

  • Demonstrated experience in process control methods and industry standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and understand process design documents such as P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead or participate in multi-disciplined team environment to achieve goals.

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

 Education / Experience / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Minimum of BS in Engineering or related technical field

  • Minimum of 3 years Automation or Biotech related experience depending on degree

  • Experienced with current industry standards for Safety and Automation

  • Experienced with current government regulations regarding biotech producing facilities

  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems and Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLCs preferred

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

This position is an office-based position which requires appropriate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) when field work is required.  Frequent repeated motions such as keyboarding are required.  Work functions will be primarily performed in an indoor environment. In addition, candidate must be able to work within a group setting as well as work independently. This position is a team & project-based position that will require occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays
