Description
Provides managerial and technical support to a services organization that is effective in supporting the plant organization. Required to interact with different levels both within Power Generation Division and FPL Group as well as other companies to determine feasibility, cost effectiveness, reliability and quality of products and services. Directs personnel activities such as hiring, performance evaluations, and compensation. Continually builds a high performance organization that delivers total operational excellence.
1. Aggressively promote a safe and healthy work environment and personally employ safe work practices at all times.
2. Recognize what needs to be done to meet the goals and objectives of FPL Generation, take initiative, and do it.
3. Provide strong leadership and leadership coaching to all I&C staff.
4. Coordinate and organize budget and related functions.
5. Lead Teams in problem analysis, decision-making and strategic planning.
6. Lead efforts that seek breakthrough process improvement activities and initiatives.
7. Drive strategic behaviors for the design and implementation of process control systems and enterprise wide information systems.
8. Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements as applicable.
9. Travel is estimated to average 30%.
10. May be filled at a level commensurate with background and experience.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and 5 to 6 years leadership experience in power generation or 15 years power generation experience of
which 8 years are in a leadership position. Professional Engineering License is desired.
2. Solid record of leadership achievement and human resource management with technical organizations.
3. Effective supervisory practices including motivational and performance management techniques for linking business objectives with employee
performance.
4. Demonstrated capability, with a track record, in the successful application of process control knowledge and skill including control loop logic
development and testing, (Sensors through Final Control Elements).
5. Executed a practical implementation of control theory for classical and advanced algorithms.
6. Demonstrated troubleshooting and diagnostic skills at all levels of a process control problem.
7. Solid record of system design experience including software and hardware, with any major DCS system. Preferred systems are Ovation, Bailey
Infi-90, TXP and GE MK V and VI.
8. Effective design and project management skills particularly in major control system upgrades and data acquisition systems.
9. Knowledge of the latest standard practices for communication protocols and intranet/internet browser technologies.
10. Demonstrated understanding of the development of process control screen graphics for effective operations.
11. High quality written and verbal communication skills.
12. Knowledge of Safe work practices.
Comment: Typical work schedule, Monday-Friday, 8AM - 5PM, travel to plant sites as required, overtime as needed. Position may be filled at a lower level commensurate with qualifications and experience.
