Position Overview:

We are seeking an HR Director to lead HR for the Microsoft Studios business, the 1st party content creation organization for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB). MS Studios is driving content innovation on our platforms including Xbox 360, Kinect, and Windows Phone. A key focus of the HR leader in the Studios organization is to continue to partner with business leaders to lead through the transformation to becoming an entertainment, content creation organization expanding from not only focusing on traditional, core video gaming experiences, but also broadening its reach to attract new audiences to our platforms through new content experiences.

This business oriented HR professional should understand how to integrate HR objectives with business strategy to drive business execution, consumer centric culture, and integration across the IEB team and within Microsoft. This HR leader will lead a strong team of HR professionals to drive a people agenda grounded in the Microsoft HR pillars of talent management, culture, leadership, and management excellence, and culture of diversity and inclusion. Primary responsibilities include leading the HR Agenda for the Studios teams, developing HR Strategies and practices to support the unique needs of this entertainment content business, and partnering across the IEB team to drive the overall People Agenda.

Demonstrated skills needed include leading and building a strong, geographically distributed HR team; developing effective business relationships with team leaders; the ability to be a member of the business leadership team; developing, implementing, and overseeing the proactive implementation of various Human Resources solutions and services inside and outside of the standard Microsoft frameworks; identifying approaches to solving systemic organizational issues in a fast-moving, changing environment; and partnering across the global HR organization. This position will report to the GM of IEB HR.

Qualifications include a minimum of 10 years directly applicable HR management experience or equivalent experience. Successful candidate must have excellent leadership, people management, problem solving, change management, project management, communication, presentation, organizational agility and interpersonal skills. Strong compensation, M&A, and entertainment industry background is preferred.

Occasional travel will be necessary. MBA or advance degree in Human Resources preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Leader - Positively impact and contribute to the success of HR team members by motivating, developing and coaching the team to deliver world-class HR

Business Partner - Master the business, diagnose people implications and recommend actions around people strategy. Serve as a key member of the leadership team to assist in driving business results. Drive systemic organizational and people strategies that are aligned to the business strategy. Work closely with international HR partners to ensure seamless strategic management of the organization.

Change Agent and Org Development - Partner with and coach business leadership team to facilitate organization and culture change. Act as a catalyst for building Organizational Effectiveness within the business. Educate business on HR trends that affect the business. Acquire business sponsorship for HR initiatives.

Diversity and Inclusion champion - Partner with business leadership to create and promote a culture of aspiration, inspiration, inclusion, and career opportunity

Operational leader- Lead implementation of core HR programs into the business insuring an effective, sustainable people strategy over the long term.

HR Generalist - includes employee relations, manager coaching, compensation and benefits, organization capability, legal compliance, senior level recruiting, performance management and appraisal, training and career counseling.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

HR Professional with minimum 10 years’ experience in a professional HR environment which serves the business as a strategic partner.

Minimum 5 years people management/leadership experience.

Employment law expertise

Demonstrated competence in organizational development, executive coaching, compensation, employee relations, and talent management.

The ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to solving problems. Experience working with senior executives, multiple groups, multiple geographies and complex environments.

Interpersonal and strategic communication, negotiation and conflict management, influence and problem solving.
