Ready? Lets Get to Work.DescriptionBiologist Careers - California officesThe challenge? Provide environmental scientific support for our rapidly growing siting, licensing and permitting practice. Our Staff Biologist career path will give you the opportunity to play a role in all stages of siting and permitting projects in the industrial and energy sectors. In this entry level position, you will serve as a key team member working with scientists, engineers, project managers, and other project staff. You should be a self-motivated professional with a proven and successful track record in providing field biology assistance for siting and licensing of industrial power and energy facilities and possess a Bachelors Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environment Engineering or other related scientific discipline. You should also have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each siting and permitting project.Our Biologists:Travel to client locations to perform data collection.Assist with regulatory documentation development including FERC documents, Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, siting reports, and environmental permit applications and preparing NEPA/CEQA documents, and Section 7 ESA Consultation.Gain experience in environmental permitting of energy facilities and/or pipelines including: NEPA/CEQA (and state equivalents), USACE 404 wetland permitting, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) filings, California Department of Fish and Game, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA, environmental permitting, SPCC plan preparation, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan preparationContribute to environmental impact statements, siting reports, and environmental permit applicationsDemonstrate technical competence and project experience in natural resource fields applicable to industrial (primarily conventional or renewable energy generation/transmission) siting and licensing or environmental permitting of projects. Perform various biological field surveys for planning and construction Possess California-specific biology experience and desert experience Possess experience with California Tiger Salamanders and California Red-legged Frogs2 to 4 years experience in the industrial siting and licensing field in the western United States, or related technical experience (desired/preferred is 6-10 years)Additional Information:Position can be located in Oakland, Santa Ana or Sacramento, California. Biologist will support pre-construction and construction activities such as clearance surveys and biological monitoring. Biologist could spend time in field during these activities. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. This position could be located in our Oakland or Santa Ana offices. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (eg., H-1Bvisa, etc) to fill this position.Basic QualificationsBachelors Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environment Engineering or other related scientific discipline
2 to 4 years experience in the industrial siting and licensing field in the western United States, or related technical experience
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for land use and biological /water resources permitting.
Environmental consulting experience
Experience in serving on and leading teams of field scientists for biological surveys for energy projects in California
Strong oral and written communication skills and strong analytical skills
