The Quality Operations Laboratory Analyst performs laboratory testing on a variety of product samples, including bulk vaccine, filled vaccine, and media. The successful candidate may be assigned to work in any of the three main areas of the laboratory.
Biochemistry Laboratory
The emphasis is on ELISA and basic benchtop biochemistry, such as Karl Fischer moisture analysis, thermal stability, and restoration.
Microbiology Laboratory
The emphasis is on microbiological methods, such as compendial sterility, bacteriostasis/fungistasis, mycoplasma, and in-vitro mycobacteria.
Bio-analytical Methods
The emphasis is on cell-based and virological laboratory methods, such as tissue culture safety, cell-line maintenance, and infectivity titration (potency).
The successful candidate:
· Has knowledge of biochemical laboratory techniques and processes, and/or cell culture propagation and maintenance procedures, and/or microbiological laboratory procedures
· Authors standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the performance of laboratory methods
· Trouble-shoots equipment issues as needed
· Initiates and contributes to laboratory investigations as needed and follows site procedures in the documentation of Quality Notifications and CAPAs
· Collaborates with Durham Laboratory Compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
· Provides active support during audits and inspections (regulatory, internal, safety)
· Supports MMD divisional and Quality initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
· B.S. degree in a science field required, preferably biology, microbiology, or biochemistry
· Must have good technical writing skills and high attention to detail.
· Must be able to work independently and within a team environment
· Must possess good communication skills
Preferred:
· Knowledge of cGMPs
· Root cause analysis methodology
· Lean Laboratory knowledge and experience
· Experience in analytical method transfer
