Amazon FC Systems team is looking for smart, talented individuals who can work along with Amazon teams to drive critical initiatives for FCSW. This is a growing team within Amazon.com specializing in many of the core algorithms for scheduling, capacity, and flow management in all fulfillment centers worldwide. We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic leader to help build out the team and its strategic vision.
In this role, your key responsibilities include:
* Technical ownership of specific initiatives for this program.
* Work with customers to understand the business requirements and translate the requirements into technical/functional specifications for the engineers.
* Dealing with ambiguity to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.
* Balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
* Work with operations engineering managers as well as other groups in Amazon to coordinate the technical development effort and business metrics; track/drive the project; manage the operational implementation process.
* Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management and make tradeoffs; encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit; identify interdependencies between concurrent IT projects to prevent downstream problems.
* Gain consensus on technical decisions and ensure that appropriate software engineering practices are employed to deliver high quality results.
* Work with both the Software and Operations teams to launch projects and provide ongoing technical support as appropriate.
* Evangelize within and outside Amazon to encourage a fast and smooth adoption of the services; be the primary conduit for gathering requirements for future enhancements; develop demos, sample and technical collateral as required.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related
* Prior experience as a Software Development Engineer or Technical Product/Program
Preferred Qualifications
* Management with a record of successful delivery of large/complex software systems.
* Solid foundation in service-oriented technologies to be able to understand service interdependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems.
* Experience in managing the complete software development lifecycle for software applications in large-scale systems.
* Experience driving cross functional initiatives.
* Track record of software projects delivery.
* Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, leadership skills essential to successful program/project management.
* Good written, verbal communication skills.
* Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices & identify what truly matters.Ability to work independently and excellent problem solving skills is a must.
* Proven results-oriented person with a focus on delivery.
