Description
Under general supervisor, performs work required for equipment operation to maintain continuity of service consistent with safe and economical practices. May perform Mechanical Operator and Technical Operator functions associated with such equipment up to an intermediate level of skill as trained and qualified. Execute orders from the Lead Operator; receive and execute orders from the appropriate tagging authority at isolated panels for clearing equipment or making it ready for service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures; clear, tag, test and safety tape these operations. Assist in operation of central control room panels. Essential: Must demonstrate during the first six months the ability to follow simple instructions and carry out routine assignments. The aptitude for operations and mechanical work. Keen faculties of observation. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must possess a temperament suitable to duties which require accuracy and patience. High school graduate or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license. Good judgment and willingness to learn is desirable. Required: Must have successfully completed the appropriate POSS/MASS pre-employment tests except that an employee hired prior to May 1, 1977 who have or obtains a high school diploma or its equivalent does not have to complete the pre-employment tests. The successful applicant for this position has no right to return to his/her former position unless specifically provided for by Union Contract.
