Prerequisites
BA/BS required; Scientific degree ( BS, MS, Pharm D, PhD) preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in pharma/biotech industry with publication planning experience required.  Oncology/Hematology market experience preferred.
Summary
The Manager, Scientific Communications will manage the information and dissemination plan for all Celgene products within a specified therapeutic area. The manager will support the efficient planning, tracking and dissemination of key data.  This includes publications, abstracts, oral presentations, and seminars.  The manager will provide expertise to a wide variety of communication-related projects and contribute significantly to continuing publication planning and execution, working with external authors, agencies and consultants, as deemed appropriate. Establish strong partnership with medical thought leaders, patient advocacy groups, and professional societies.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.  Develop, maintain, and deliver scientific communications strategy and plans and manage
relationships with both internal and external groups.

2.  Establish strong partnership with medical thought leaders, patient advocacy groups,
professional societies.

3.  Reviews and approves manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide presentations, and other
documents to ensure appropriate evaluation and presentation of data, methodology,
interpretation, and alliance with business objectives.

4.  Develops content for and reviews slides for clarity, accuracy of content, and interpretation.

5.  Contributes to therapeutic expertise during protocol design phase.

6.  Gains a progressively deepening understanding of disease state and current medical
and/or regulatory issues related to Celgene products, and serves as a technical resource
on molecule and/or disease state; uses this expertise to interpret and present scientific and
statistical data in publications.

7.  Overnight travel (40%) to scientific meetings within and outside the U.S.

8.  Managing funds and resources appropriately.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

?  BA/BA required; scientific degree ( BS, MS, Pharm D, PhD)helpful, but not required.

?  Minimum 5 years’ pharma/biotech industry.  Publication planning experience in the
pharmaceutical industry required.  Oncology/Hematology market experience preferred.

?  Ability to conceptually organize and analyze data, interpret, and synthesize complex clinical
and non-clinical statistical reports to derive key outcomes and messages; ability to translate
scientific and technical issues for diverse audiences.

?  Experience or background in working within the pharmaceutical industry, awareness of
compliance issues and guidelines around medical education and publications.

?  Ability to formulate (write) long-range plans and to implement them successfully.

?  Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
