Description:
This position will be in the Corporate Communications division
within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Corporate Center
Business Unit (CCBU). The successful candidate will lead
communications planning and execution for SmartConnect™,
Smart Grid including PEV, transmission, safety, business resiliency
as well as other initiatives critical to the company's
success.
Typical responsibilities will include:
•Managing internal communications as well as coordinating
strategies and execution with media, web enterprise, customers and
external stakeholders and advertising functions as required.
•Leading and contributing to the development and
implementation of strategy and response to short- and mid-term
initiative and issues.
•Managing the implementation of strategic initiatives that
have a large impact on a business unit or company.
•Serving as a liaison between Edison International and
Corporate Communications at the direction of the Senior Manager of
Enterprise Communications.
•Collaborating with business unit communicators to develop and
implement short- and mid-term challenges and issues around key
initiatives.
•Evaluating and recommending appropriate communications
products and services in support of key initiatives and issues for
the company.
•Managing employee performance by establishing performance
expectations and goals which align with company objectives, safety
policies and procedures.
•Developing employees by providing timely feedback, coaching
and support.
•Making or recommending appropriate pay and
rewards/recognition.
•Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment
by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols
and safe work practices.
•Working in a 24/7, on-call environment for Incident Command
System responsibilities.
•Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Basic Qualification:
•Must have a minimum of three years of experience managing or
leading enterprise-wide initiatives or activities.
•Must have communications experience.
Job Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in applicable profession, business,
or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience.
•Typically possesses five or more years managing or leading
cross-functional teams.
•Demonstrated experience planning and directing the production
of various communications tools for topics, campaign and
initiatives tied to a business unit or the
company.
•Demonstrated experience developing or leading strategic
business plans that have an impact on an organization.
•Demonstrated experience with internal communications as well
as coordinating strategies and execution with media, web
enterprise, customers and external stakeholders and advertising
functions.
•Demonstrated proficiency with and experience conforming to AP
style to create press releases and edit written
communications.
•Demonstrated experience managing and overseeing the
development of print, audio and electronic communications
materials.
•Demonstrated ability to execute strategic priorities and lead
cross-functional teams to accomplish
objectives.
•Demonstrated ability to be persuasive and/or negotiate
effectively when, planning, developing and implementing specialized
internal and external communications projects for the
company.
•Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication
skills.
•Demonstrate excellent leadership and resource management
skills and experience providing supervision to staff, including
counseling, training, team development, salary administration,
selection, and approval of selected personnel.
•Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project.
•Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a safety
conscious work environment.
•Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across
relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance
customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately,
develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide
exceptional service to internal and external customers.
•Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning,
decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability
to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
•Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation,
leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to
effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
•Must be able to work in a 24/7, on-call environment for
Incident Command System responsibilities.
