Description:

This position will be in the San Joaquin Region within Southern
California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission & Distribution
Business Unit (TDBU). The successful candidate will supervise a
highly specialized workforce that performs routine and emergency
operations of the SCE electrical system.

 

Typical responsibilities will include:

•Coaching, mentoring, and developing employees, responding to
grievances, assigning training, supporting change initiatives, and
ensuring safety compliance.

•Administering policies and programs for the selection of
personnel, performance management, and discipline of bargaining
unit personnel.

•Coordinating and developing construction programs and
detailed switching procedures to accommodate system configuration
changes.

•Supervising the inspection of substation
properties/facilities for safety, system integrity and
environmental compliance.

•Participating in investigations of equipment failures and
performance errors.

•Ensuring the monthly inspection of facilities to confirm
appropriate operation of equipment, and ensuring that system
requirements for all the mandated legal and environmental
regulations are followed and properly communicated to the
responsible party.

•Reviewing and monitoring switching center budgets, ensuring
development and maintenance of all station documentation and
required permits, and representing the organization during
internal/external facility audits.

•Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment
by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols
and safe work practices.

•Performing other responsibilities and duties as
assigned.

 

Basic Qualification:

•Must have at least five years combined experience performing
substation or bulk power operations and/or maintenance
activities.

 

Job Requirements:

•Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or a
related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training,
and experience.

•Demonstrated experience working with electric power system
design and/or operation.

•Demonstrated experience researching technical/operating data
and performing analyses.

•Demonstrated experience with substation computer
applications, such as Energy Monitoring Systems (EMS), Operations
Monitoring Systems (OMS), Distribution Control Monitoring Systems
(DCMS), Human Resources Information Systems (e.g., SAP), or related
computer software.

•Demonstrated experience supervising or leading electrical
systems operations crews.

•Demonstrated experience working with substation equipment and
operation policies, practices, and procedures.

•Demonstrated experience with safety and environmental rules
and regulations.

•Demonstrated experience interpreting union contracts.

•Demonstrated experience developing and administering function
and capital budgets at the crew level.

•Demonstrated leadership experience including prioritizing
activities, delegating and monitoring assignments, and holding
individuals accountable for results.

•Demonstrated experience coaching, training, and mentoring
employees to achieve maximum performance.

•Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects
concurrently.

•Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.

•Demonstrated ability to create and maintain a safety
conscious work environment.

•Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across
relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance
customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately,
develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide
exceptional service to internal and external customers.

•Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning,
decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability
to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation,
leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to
effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

 

Preferences:

•Experience as a system operator or HS01 or HS02 on 220 kv
systems.
