Description
The Human Resources Business Partner, Virtual Customer Service (Work From Home) will drive and support both strategic and tactical deliverables for customer-obsessed Amazonians in multiple states across the U.S. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, self-directed individual to drive results in a start-up environment by increasing organizational effectiveness and efficiency via Lean methodologies. The HRBP will play a key role in ensuring positive employee relations and culture stewardship through systems, training, and interactions that role model leadership, open door communication, customer focus, and trust. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and social skills, high tolerance for ambiguity, a great sense of humor, and the ability to work independently and with superb judgment.
Qualified candidates must have their permanent residency in one of these states: Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington (state) or West Virginia. This position offers the opportunity to work from home in any of these states, with a home base at our Seattle, WA headquarters.
The successful candidate will provide broad HR support to assigned client groups, to include the following areas of expertise: coaching, development, training, investigations, disciplinary actions, performance management, internal hiring and promotions, payroll, time and attendance, leaves of absence, and employee relations. The successful candidate will also contribute to group and company-wide projects such as creation of new job families and career paths for Amazon employees, development of internal processes and policies, compensation reviews, and recognition and retention programs. The successful candidate will also partner closely in annual HR programs such as performance reviews, promotions, succession planning, and action plans resulting from employee surveys.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Cultivate, evolve, and maintain our Amazon culture (Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History!) in a virtual, work from home, multi-state environment.
* Demonstrate respect towards employees at all levels of the organization.
* Assist with geographic expansion efforts into new work from home locations, including large-scale production hiring campaigns.
* Partner with internal customers to implement HR plans and solutions.
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to frontline employees and managers
* Assess business unit HR training needs and conduct 1:1 and group training sessions as appropriate.
* Review and analyze business metrics including data on retention and employee
* Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling.
* Work with line managers and employees to address all types of employee relations issues, fairly representing all interests in a non-union environment.
* Work with business groups to assess, create and implement innovative solutions for a variety of employee engagement initiatives within the client group.
* Ensure internal customers receive outstanding service; identifying and resolving systematic pain points
* Partnering with business leaders in highly complex and dynamic business setting
* Assess internal talent for leadership potential
* Influence, consult, and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.
* Occasional travel is required (up to 25%).
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelors Degree required in Human Resources Management or related field.
* 4+ years of experience in an HR generalist, management, or business partner role
* Demonstrated success leading HR projects.
* Understanding of high-volume production staffing
* Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem solving skills, critical thinking, and analysis.
* Prior experience providing HR support to an organization with a large hourly workforce (250+).
* Experience leading internal investigations.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Knowledge of employment laws such as ERISA, COBRA, ADA, and other federal and state laws covering discrimination and equal opportunity employment.
* Experience and specific knowledge of human resource theory, including employee development and performance appraisal systems.
* Must live in one of the states listed above, have access to high speed internet and a separate land line, and be able to maintain a home office free from distractions.
* Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem solving skills, critical thinking, and willingness to be vocally self-critical.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master''s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field is preferred.
* Prior experience successfully operating in a work from home, multi state, or start-up environment
* Experience working in a high-tech, entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities.
* Supervisory experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to leverage technology to communicate effectively in a virtual environment.
* Hustle: must thrive in a growth-phase start-up mode.
* Experience with metrics and fact-based decision making.
* Experience in project management and/or Six Sigma/Lean methodologies.
* Ambitious. Wants to learn, grow and contribute at a high level.
