The Sales Marketing and Services Group (SMSG) is an organization with over 44,000 employees worldwide and 6,500 Managers. One of the top priorities for SMSG in FY12 is developing manager capability to exemplify the skills and experiences necessary to manage change, and drive strong people and business outcomes

To that end, the SMSG Worldwide L&D Team is seeking someone who has a passion and experience in developing managers. The Management Excellence Consultant is responsible for building the SMSG manager roadmap, leveraging existing programs as well as designing and deploying content to bridge key gaps. The individual will partner and consult with Area POC leads, HR and the Business to understand needs, integrate and align T&OC L&D curriculum and activities to build manager capability worldwide for SMSG. In addition to serving as a partner and “thought leader” across the regions on management development, individual will support the execution of the Corporate Manager development programs. This individual will also partner with Corporate T&OC, SMSG-R and Operations to ensure effective L&D processes are in place across regions, ensuring integration, simplification and execution excellence.


Core Job Responsibilities - Overall, design and execute against strategic global manager excellence initiatives for SMSG


Lead & Shape SMSG Manager Excellence Roadmap (20%)

Build the Manager Excellence Roadmap for SMSG - identifying the key strategic and operational investments and steps to be taken to systematically build the people and business capability of our managers.

Develop the plan to include guiding principles, approach, success measures and integrated, streamlined communications.

Develop a deep understanding of manager development needs in SMSG, as well as available courseware.


Establish and implement manager excellence initiatives to build manager capability (55%)

Partner with Employee & Manager Excellence (E&ME) to leverage and deploy curriculum, as well as influence future offerings.

Support the implementation of the SMSG Training Needs Analysis and leverage the results to inform priorities.

Consult with Global POC/HR and the Business on management development solutions for current, key capability issues.

Take initiative to team up with appropriate stakeholders across the company including Corporate T&OC, SMSG Area POC and SMSG L&D to successfully deliver on manager excellence initiatives.

Ensure that HR Team members and leaders within the region are fully aware of and engaged (where appropriate) in Manager Excellence work.

Work with POC Community and HRBPs to identify opportunities for application skill building in a standardized approach.

Lead the ME Champ work and community (including: People Commitments for M1 & M2, Measurement and People Scorecard, Manager Diagnostics, etc.) As part of the ME Champ work, understand the people, their needs, unique challenges, and best methods of delivery.

Plan and track budget and impact.


Thought Leadership (25%)

Serve as the primary contact for SMSG Management Excellence globally.

Be the pulse and champion for driving Manager Excellence across the segments, geographies and functions.

Partner with the Corporate T&OC to provide “thought leadership”, as well as, input and feedback regarding framing the manager role (ie: Manager priorities, Career Stage Profile development) as well as design, development and delivery of programs that build management capability.

Partner with L&D colleagues, E&ME, MACH to bring appropriate alignment between Management development, Leadership development, MACH and Bench activities.

Partner with Global POC/HR Community to communicate, educate and build readiness for Management Excellence.


Qualifications

BA/BS in Human Resources, Business, Leadership, Organization Development or related field required.

8+ years‘ strong exposure and professional experience in area of management development.

Outstanding consulting skills including a track record of working effectively with managers.

Demonstrates the capability to lead and be a strong contributor to international virtual teams.

Strong presence and maturity. Demonstrated ability to partner with leaders and managers to provide value-add service.

Track record of defining, assessing, measuring, developing and delivering organization and manager development through learning and development experiences and programs.

Experience in building and executing manager development programs in the retail environment.

Strong program management skills - able to implement globally.

Ability to effectively collaborate across boundaries.

Position will require some travel.
