Description
The role of this position is to assist in breaking down attitudinal, architectural, and programmatic barriers for individuals with disabilities who want to take part in their community. The Community Inclusion Manager will work with Ability Center staff and community partners to provide individualized Independent Living Pans and inclusive community-based services. They will provide leadership and guidance to Community Inclusion Coordinators and Inclusion Specialists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Recruit and develop community relationships that ensure continuation of accessible
opportunities throughout The Ability Center’s service area.
2. Recruit and train participants, mentors, volunteers and community partners and providers. Plan
and provide coordination, technical assistance, orientation and on-going training sessions.
3. Facilitate the process of inclusion by using a variety of techniques to assist in the transition to
general programming. Will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate community based programs
to achieve the goal of community inclusion.
4. Once techniques are understood and implemented the Inclusion Manager role changes from
direct to indirect support.
5. Meet with consumers to create an individualized Independent Living Plan to identify their goals for participation in inclusive community-based services.
6. Track consumers Independent Living goals and outcomes.
7. Support, collaborate and train ACT staff to ensure the continuance of 5 Star programming.
8. Work with PR Manager to promote inclusion in the community.
9. Supervise a team of Inclusion Specialists who provide individual support to consumers
seeking community participation.

Qualifications:
Experience, Education, and Licensure
Bachelor’s degree preferred in recreation, therapeutic recreation, teaching, or related human service field and five years experience coordinating and leading recreation and teaching activities. At least 2 years experience in developing and organizing programs and facilitating activities for people with disabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must demonstrate excellent communications skills and the ability to build a rapport and collaborate effectively with consumers, community organizations, professionals, and parents/family members. Knowledgeable of assistive technology and adapted equipment related to inclusive recreation activities. Must be goal oriented and display the ability to motivate others to work toward common goals. Must be able to travel throughout northwest Ohio and southern Michigan as needed.
