Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience performing activities relative to hydrography and hydrology.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelors Degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Remote Sensing, or a related field, with an emphasis in Hydrology or Water Resource Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses five or more years of supervisory experience.
- Typically possesses five or more years experience in the field performing hydrographic measurements, analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations for improvements in water measurement techniques.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand, communicate ideas, concepts and technical data, and appropriately respond to internal and external clients' business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information, make sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact and develop and implement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate and build relationships with all levels of individuals, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments.

Comments:
Additional testing may be required as part of the selection process for this position. This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.
Preferences:
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with hydrographic activities for a large utility. Demonstrated experience with Kisters/Hydstra Database, Microsoft Access and Excel. Demonstrated knowledge of any of the following programming languages: Microsoft Visual Basic, C++, Perl, or SQL.
Typical Responsibilities:
The Hydrography Supervisor will report to the Compliance Manager and is directly responsible for the supervision of personnel performing hydrographic activities in the Northern Hydro Division. Typical responsibilities will include: Providing supervision to meet United States Geological Survey (USGS) field and office analysis requirements for approximately 75 gaging stations and over 150
dam monitoring stations; Meeting FERC requirements for multiple major dams, minor dams and small stream diversions; Participating in the California Cooperative Snow Survey Program, and assuring new license compliance item workload integration; Assuring accuracy of regulatory compliance data and assure all regulatory deadlines are met, including release changes based on
water year designation; Ensuring that all aspects directly related to hydrography are optimized, including safe work practices, resource utilization, personnel productivity, and communications; Providing direction, coaching, support, leadership and development opportunities to staff personnel; Meeting established goals related to compliance within the Division by assuring there
are no violations of regulatory requirements; Ensuring appropriate training of subordinates, including the necessary training conducive to providing a safe working environment; actively seeking career development opportunities for, assuring recognition of and administering discipline to direct reports; Conducting performance reviews, developing performance expectations, and providing developmental feedback and training; Interfacing with subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work
activities; Assuring accurate timekeeping/accounting (i.e., employee time off); Facilitating the availability of proper resources, equipment and technology; assuring quality and timeliness of completed work; Assuring that required safety, environmental and skill training goals are met; Scheduling project completion dates, budget costs and providing progress updates to the financial group; and performing other duties and responsibilities as required.
