Basic Qualifications:
Seven or more years of commercial nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, engineering, or experience in a related discipline with technical proficiency in power plant equipment.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses five or more years managing or supervising an organization or unit
- Broad technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
- Demonstrated on-line and outage experience in the Maintenance area.
- Demonstrated ability to "walk the talk" when competing priorities demand choices between nuclear safety and production,including budget constraints and reliability of safety equipment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic business plans and prioritizing strategic initiatives that have a large impact on the organization as well as performance improvement functions around nuclear safety.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills to deliver information across all levels of the organization, some of which may be technical or sensitive in nature, including nuclear safety issues.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with clients, direct reports, corporate officers and all levels of management to develop solutions and facilitate the integration of business processes across the organization.
- Strong teamwork and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments, and empowering employees with the authority necessary to accomplish objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve long-term strategic goals.
- ANSI N18.8-1971: Minimum of seven years responsible power plant experience or applicable industrial experience of which a minimum of one year shall be nuclear power plant experience. A maximum of tow years of the remaining six years of power plant or industrial experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or related technical training on a one-for-one time
basis.
Preferences:
- SRO or certification on BWR or PWR Leading
- Refueling outage experience in Maintenance area
Typical Responsibilities:
Integrates Planning and Contract activities into plant maintenance and construction operations in work orders to ensure safe, reliable, cost efficient operations by managing diverse and specialized disciplines which have operations and financial impact on the Company. Provides organizational guidance, direction, leadership, and planning for all Planning and Contract Management
Department related activities. Ensures Planning and Contract Management Department compliance with applicable requirements, regulations, procedures, and specifications, including nuclear requirements. Identifies Planning and Contract Management Department training needs and supports the Systematic Approach to Training process. Provides interface for the Planning and Contract Management Department activities with regulators oversight, industry, and site organizations. Fosters an environment of continuous improvement in Human Performance, Industrial Safety, and Radiological performance. Establishes an environment which fosters a strong safety culture. Sets clear vision, values, standards, and policies that reflect nuclear safety as an organizational and individual responsibility for the stations. Works effectively with the management team in setting priorities, allocating resources and driving to operational focus and leadership. Promotes support of the Correction Action Program (CAP) by ensuring the department writes timely and high quality notifications, efficiently processes CAP assignments, supports assessments, and actively participates with site and divisional Corrective Action Review Boards. Develops medium to long-range strategic plans and departmental plans, including staffing, training, budget, contracts support, and oversight. Provides leadership for the implementation of strategies developed by upper management and in setting strategic direction of the Planning and Contract Management Department. Maintains awareness of industry issues and strengths through benchmarking, participation in industry conferences and working groups, and through consultation with INPO. Identifies and adopts industry best practices for the Planning and Contract Management Department to promote performance improvement and to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Supports continued growth of Planning and Contract Management Department employees. Provides overall direction, planning and performance of Planning and Contract Management Department cost activities to ensure achievement of budget goals.
