Position Description:
Position has two key roles: (1) astrodynamics analysis and support (both in theory and practice) and (2) software development. The individual hired for this position will analyze, review, design, document, prototype, and verify algorithms, logic, functionality, proposed solutions, and code related to space surveillance and control capabilities. Areas of emphasis include space object catalog maintenance, general and special perturbations processing, orbit determination, differential correction, coordinate frame transformations, tasking, observation processing and calibration, conjunction analysis, event processing, performance analysis, and customer support. He or she will provide astrodynamics engineering expertise and guidance for software sustainment, development, and modernization within the structured processes of the AFSSS. Programming will be performed in Fortran and C/C++. SENSOR processes will be used to perform requirements analysis, software design, development, test, and implementation. Formal progress reviews will be prepared and presented to senior management at key project milestones. To be effective, the individual must become highly knowledgeable in (1) fence theory and fence data reduction, (2) database, application programs, and CSC/CSCI software and hardware architecture, and (3) alternate and primary Space Control Center (SCC) operations (to include learning to run/perform crew checklists, job aids, functions, and programs).
' Provide astrodynamics analysis and support to the AFSSS product line.
' Analyze, review, design, document, prototype, and verify algorithms, logic, functionality, proposed solutions, and code that support space surveillance and control capabilities.
' Provide astrodynamics engineering expertise and guidance for software sustainment, development, and modernization within the structured processes of the AFSSS.
' Prepare and present formal progress reviews to senior management at key project milestones.
' Become knowledgeable in (1) fence operations and data reduction, (2) database, application programs, and CSC/CSCI software and hardware architecture, and (3) alternate and primary Space Control Center (SCC) operations.
' Develop new software. Maintain existing software applications.
' Perform in-depth analysis and review of requirements. Coordinate and represent these requirements during reviews and presentations.
' Perform preliminary and detailed design of software related modifications and fixes.
' Code the design in the required language and support the integration of the module.
' Conduct unit and integration level testing related to the modification or fix.
' Support the configuration management functions of the software development lifecycle to include integration, builds, application storage and retrieval, documentation and process compliance.
' Other duties as assigned
Experience Requirements:
BS + 8/MS + 6 in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Astrodynamics
' Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance (to allow for unescorted access to the ASCC)
' Advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and/or Astrodynamics is highly desirable
' Must be able to work productively in a team environment and be responsive to operational mission requirements and customer expectations
' Customer focused, demonstrated self-starter with strong communications, briefing, and writing skills
' Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
