General Position Description:
Performs responsibilities in five areas of nursing practice: clinician, teacher, researcher, leadership and professional development. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal, pediatric and adolescent patients in regards to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospitals and departments Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinician behaviors include: assessment of documents, plan care and document goals appropriate for child and family. Maintain a safe environment, take direct and appropriate action to urgent situations. Preserve patient rights, reflect recognition of childs development level. Functions as a member of the healthcare team. Document patient discharge and evaluates patient and family response to plan of care. Teacher behaviors include: identify patient and family learning needs and abilities. Research behaviors: read research articles related to patient/family care topics or assist with collection of data. Leadership levels: adhere to communication, costumer service and professional image standards, actively work to build team member skills, identify resources available to assist in professional development.
Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Emergency or pediatric experience preferred. Ability to safely immobilize children if necessary and to assess and respond quickly to patient care situations. Ability to move equipment and patients. Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
FTE status: FT-72
