Job Duties
FACILITIES SUPPORT RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL TECHNICIAN (T-3) - The candidate must have successfully completed the Department of Energy (DOE) radiological control standardized core requirements and is currently or has previously qualified as a RCT. A minimum of six (6) years of experience as a senior RCT in DOE radiation protection work activities. The individual must also possess current 40-hour HAZWOPER training or be capable of passing HAZWOPER training; be respirator qualified or capable of obtaining respirator qualifications. National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologist (NRRPT) is considered a preferred qualification. The primary function of the RCT is to provide field support to the Department/Organization where they are assigned with primary emphasis in Health Physics and radiological protection. The BNL RCT, under the direction of the FS Representative or designee, performs the following tasks: performing, documenting and posting radiological surveys; analyzing smears and air samples; provide job coverage; ensure site-wide radiological control procedures are followed; survey materials for free release from areas controlled for radiological purposes; perform and document industrial hygiene surveys for noise and chemical exposure.
