Description
The position includes serving in a technical and project development lead role for planning, design and construction phase services for SCADA, instrumentation and control system projects for water and wastewater utilities. The position also includes providing oversight of system integration, PLC programming and HMI configuration projects and personnel on an as needed basis. Projects include large scale SCADA system planning and design, system upgrades and replacements, system architecture development, P&ID development, instrument installation details, schematics, PLC one-lines, network diagrams, input/output schedules and instrument schedules.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical leadership in one or more technical areas including: SCADA, automation, communications, system integration and programming
Apply automation and control system solutions to meet a variety of client needs including full automation, energy efficiency, chemical and capital cost reductions
Identify business opportunities, prepare proposals, and win new business.
Work as a part of Black & Veatchs I&C leadership Team and on multiple delivery teams, both inside and outside their assigned region as required.
Assist in obtaining one or more new client/projects by being proposed in a lead role, preparing proposals (within budget) and/or preparing and participating in presentations.
Successfully manage assigned projects, to the clients' satisfaction, within budget, and on schedule, including obtaining contract change orders and schedule adjustments where justified
Maintain relationship with key clients, expand sales with existing accounts, identifies, and sells to customer needs.
Maintain excellent client relations, meets customer expectations for quality, and have been bid as and won a large project as named project manager.
Maintain current licenses.
Minimum Qualifications 11 years of engineering experience in I&C, DCS & SCADA design, project management, construction phase support and system integration.
B.S. in Engineering or related field.
Must be a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.). Must also be registered in Texas or able to obtain within one year of hire.
Preferred Job Qualifications 5 to 8 years of business development experience in the water/wastewater industry
Demonstrated project management and technical leadership experience
Managed multiple staff over the course of large, multi-year projects
Proven experience in winning competitive projects or pursuits
Active involvement in water industry associations or activities
Demonstrated ability to grow and mentor project teams
Proven ability to manage budget, schedule and scope to meet clients expectations
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Masters degree in Engineering or related field a plus.
