Basic Purpose
Under general supervision manages the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures governing the credit activities of the division. Manages the investigation of credit risks. Approves new line of credit and/or the extension of credit and limits. Handles the more complex and larger accounts.
Description
Approves credit terms for new customer accounts and ensures proper and complete documentation is obtained.
Monitors open accounts receivable to ensure skips, short pays, credit memos and unapplied cash is addressed timely.
Visits existing and potential customers to investigate credit matters and to foster good credit relationships between the customer and the organization.
Negotiate billing arrangements for overdue account balances.
Coordinates customer credit issue resolution with Sales Departments. Recommends customer accounts that will go to collection and/or bad debt write-off. Assigns uncollectible account to legal or outside collection agents. Represents and negotiates on behalf of division in all credit related legal issues.
Plans, evaluates, organizes, integrates, and controls department processes and functions. Establishes, monitors and controls department budget.
Establishes and implements work standards. Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the credit department.
Supervisory responsibilities involving staffing, conducting performance appraisals, training and developing subordinate's promotions, salary increases, terminations, disciplinary actions.
Qualifications

Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Related Experience: A minimum of 4 years progressive Credit/Accounts Receivable experience required. Supervisory experience required. Food service or similar distribution experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Good analytical and problem solving skills. Attention to detail and organizational skills; multi-task oriented; and ability to meet deadlines.
Advanced Excel and Access skills required. Ability to independently assess financial reports for critical information required to perform analyses. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with and demonstrate discretion with confidential information. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working cooperatively with individuals at all levels.
