The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA
View The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Company Profile

Description

The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) will provide leadership in a wide range of clinical and scholarly endeavors. He or she will be eligible for an appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank (depending upon experience) within the Department of Pediatrics and the CHOP Research Institute. Faculty appointments are subject to approval of the appropriate School of Medicine committees, the Dean of the School of Medicine, and the Provost??s Staff Conference of the University. Opportunities exist for formal ties to Penn??s Psychology Department (and other ??graduate groups?), whereby the faculty member can become a primary mentor of graduate students.
The primary purpose of creating this faculty position is to have a Director of Clinical Training who will further develop the nascent clinical postdoctoral training program at The Center for Autism Research, begun by Dr. Schultz and colleagues in 2008. A secondary purpose of creating this position is to add another faculty person to The Center for Autism Research??s leadership team. The Center for Autism Research is flexible as to the exact experience and interests of the candidate, but he or she will need to fit into one of Penn??s established faculty tracks and have time set aside for scholarship in order to be successful in that track. The best fit would be for an autism scholar interested in issues of early detection/assessment or treatment, as the training program and research evaluation clinic lend themselves to that type of work. Because the training program is an integral part of the Research Evaluation Clinic, the Director of Clinical Training will necessarily need to have a leadership role in the Clinic too (the percent effort for this is flexible and dependent on a host of factors). In summary, the Director of Clinical Training will be responsible for three primary functions:
? leading the Clinical Training Program,
? co-directing The Center for Autism Research??s Research Evaluation Clinic
? and developing and/or implementing an ASD program of scholarship that is commensurate with their faculty rank and track.
