Key member of the Executive Team responsible for leading a seasoned local senior management team that is well respected in the industry and gaining momentum in the marketplace.
Provide high energy, hand-on and operationally-focused leadership to bring the organization to the next level of growth.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Leading efforts surrounding the continued implementation of OCIs long-range plans supplemented with shorter term operating plans to achieve profitable growth in the overall open shop construction market
Taking a structured approach to assessing the human capital requirements in the short and long term, continuously assessing the bench against that need, and taking the actions required to insure that the company has the right talent, in the right place, at the right time
Managing the profit and loss of the company, including business development, operations, construction related procurements, construction equipment, cash management and budgeting, forecasting, planning and work-outs (as required)
Executing on a timely basis strategies, tactics, and actions aimed at achieving aggressive company goals for revenue, profit, project and construction management and customer satisfaction. Measuring, reviewing and reporting on the companys overall business performance to the Parent Company
Developing, reviewing and approving the operating plans and budgets submitted by direct reports with a keen interest in the development and implementation of internal best practice operational processes and a strong emphasis on continuous improvement of operations and sales growth
Supporting an effective business development operation, including market assessment and positioning, client management, risk management, proposal development, client feedback, and performance assessments
Promoting quality, safety, and security in all operations
Maintaining awareness in the development of sound market strategies, monitoring industry trends, attending conferences and participating in sales calls, and maintaining focus on company growth objectives with a goal of achieving a superior position in both the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and direct construction markets
Providing the leadership necessary to ensure the continued professional development of the staff, including career and succession planning
Participating in strategy and due diligence efforts for acquisitions as required
Lead effort to develop and implement a structured, progressive craft training program
Lead effort to monitor, assess, redefine where appropriate, develop and implement efficient and effective operating practices.
Minimum Qualifications 15-20 years of construction operations experience, based on assigned area of operations
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
A demonstrated background in strategy development and analysis of business activities to evaluate and determine the resulting financial impact
A solid foundation in financial management with an emphasis on overall P&L, cost controls and management/project reporting
A deep understanding of the EPC markets with a minimum of 15 years coming from the direct construction markets being preferred
Demonstrated experience and involvement in setting critical people and talent management strategies for his or her organization that have successfully addressed the key leadership and organizational development needs for organizations
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Human Resources and Employee Relations, Industrial Relations and Labor Relations including Double Breasting
A minimum of 10-years demonstrated experience in field-based project management (PMI Certification), problem resolution, contract document interpretation, claims avoidance, contract negotiations, scheduling and cost controls as he or she has come up through the ranks
A clear and identifiable record of emphasizing, promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and overarching program in general
An understanding of the relationship management and sales processes that are key to success in key markets and segments, particularly as they relate to capturing, planning and executing on projects won as a primary or sub contractor
An ability to assess markets, identify acquisition targets and to the extent required, manage relevant elements of the integration processes
A track record of attracting, developing, and retaining people
A track record of building strong, effective teams of people with complementary skills
An ability to communicate with and lead a workforce that includes highly technical and field-based craft professionals
An ability to proactively address performance issues involving business results, projects, and people
A proven ability to lead and oversee project/program work-out efforts when required
An ability to establish and maintain key external relationships, e.g., architects, general contractors, partners, suppliers, consultants, and government agencies
Demonstrated and clearly visible collaborative problem-solving skills
Preferred Job Qualifications - Knowledge and understanding of Power Generation and Transmission
- Demonstrated experience executing Power Generation and GOC type projects utilizing various technologies.
- Outage and maintenance experience
- Experience as a contractor in a competitive bid environment
- Mechanical craft background
- Telecommunications experience
- Knowledge of and contacts in Southeast, Midwest and Southwest Utilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of estimating processes and platforms including Timberline
- Full understanding of project scheduling and tools including P3
- Demonstrated experience executing water and wastewater projects
- Knowledge and experience with labor laws and dealing with double-breasting conflicts and avoidance programs
