Description

Responsibilities
1.Regular and dependable attendance is required and individuals must be available for overtime work during emergencies, scheduled and unscheduled outages and/or as required to ensure the continuance of efficient operation as determined by Management.

2.Participate in and/or actively support the Fort Calhoun Station's Emergency Response Organization.

3.Must be able to obtain and maintain Unescorted Access to the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station.

4.Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

5.Support Chemistry programs such as plant system sampling, analysis, radiological effluent release control, laboratory quality control, hazardous material control, chemical control, and chemistry software support.

6.Perform rotating 12 hour shift Chemistry and Radiochemistry work to meet operational needs, Technical Specification requirements, and/or qualify and maintain task proficiency.

7.Complete the Shift Chemistry Training Program to achieve shift chemist qualification and increase knowledge and skills in accordance with Chemistry Training Program Master Plan.

8.Perform calibrations and maintenance on laboratory, process chemical, and radiation detection instruments.

9.Provide assistance for the Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program and Groundwater monitoring program, including sampling and analysis. Support routine environmental sampling and reporting.

Candidates or incumbents applying for or placed in this position MUST meet the minimum experience and training requirements specified in NOD-QP-15,  of Nuclear Organization Personnel; and ANS-3.1/N-18.1-1971, Selection and Training of Nuclear Power Plant Personnel.
A Bachelors degree in chemistry, engineering, or related technical discipline is preferred.

Two years working experience in nuclear power chemistry and radiochemistry is required. Experience as a Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT) will be considered in meeting the required .

Must hold a valid drivers license.

Physical/Environmental:
Must have the ability to qualify to work in Radiologically Controlled Areas (RCA); wear respirators, including an SCBA; and perform as a member of the Hazardous Materials Response Team. Must be able to work in hot and noisy environments in the presence of rotating equipment and work with hazardous materials. Must be able to work in an open boat.
