Reporting to VP, Consumer Strategy and based in Purchase, N.Y., this senior strategy professional will be initially focused on issues in North America, and over time also focused on strategy issues in Latin America. Responsible for a small team of direct strategy reports this is a highly cross functional role, within North American Beverages(NAB), as well as with Corporate M&A, Retailer Customer Teams, R&D, etc.; and cross-company initiatives with snacks(PAF-PepsiAmericas Foods), etc.
The primary customers are CEO of Beverages, Marketing, Sales and R&D.
Responsibilities:
1) Lead strategic plan and implementation of strategic initiatives.
Be a primary driver in the development of the NAB strategic plan in partnership with the businesses. Drive coordination of annual key strategic initiatives: ensure correct focus, right metrics, milestones and monitor implementation. Champion new strategic thought process that can upgrade our capabilities (e.g. war games, competitive patterning, etc.).
Develop communication materials to inform organization and build alignment and momentum behind strategic direction
2) Develop portfolio strategy. Key driver of brand portfolio strategy: set the framework, monitor our portfolio evolution towards key goals, identify opportunities to accelerate growth. Work with consumer insights and marketing to identify growth opportunities: responsible for developing business case and market assessments. Work with Corporate M&A and Beverage Finance on potential acquisition opportunities
3) Support development of brand strategy and implementation.
Be a resource to the Marketing and Business Unit(BU) teams to build strong brand strategies that are anchored in advantaged consumer and business propositions.
Lead multi-functional project based assignments to develop and strengthen key brands/category strategies (e.g. Tea growth strategy, Future of Sparkling, etc.)
4) Be a thought leader on Liquid Refreshment Beverages (LRB) development and Category evolution. Lead analytic and strategic thinking behind PepsiCo's LRB and category strategy; evaluate new segments to enter, develop category improvement plans, etc. Coordinate closely with Finance on category growth projections, key risks, etc.; be a leader in developing proactive strategies to capture growth, or negate declines. Be close to the market through the data and external contacts.
5) Support development of channel strategy and implications for brand portfolio.
Assess channel evolution and implications for our offering, in coordination with Sales and Shopper Insights
6) Work with teams across PepsiCo to identify new strategic growth opportunities as needed (e.g. business case for new disruptive technologies, new channel opportunities, etc.)
Job Requirements: Education requirements; MBA preferred, undergraduate degree required.
Professional experience, experience working with or within consumer products is highly desired. Specific experience previously working within a consumer products company in a strategy, marketing, sales, insights, finance or corporate development role is attractive. Current or previous growth strategy consulting experience with a strategy consulting firm is required. We are seeking someone with a minimum of 5-6 years post MBA experience; someone who has clearly demonstrated impact and success during their tenure.
