Prerequisites
Pharm.D. or Ph.D. in a pharmaceutical science required
5-7 years of pharmaceutical industry-based Drug Information experience
People management experience required
Relevant therapeutic background desired

The Medical Services team is committed to providing current, fair-balanced and evidence-based medical information to enable healthcare professionals to optimize patient care globally and to proactively identify and share knowledge to generate a strategic business advantage and support informed decision making throughout the company.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for directing and leading the activities and functional capabilities of the Medical Information Therapeutic teams. This includes the development of Medical Information standard/custom responses, completion of projects, participation in activities such as copy review committee, sales training initiatives, medical convention support, consultation with marketing, and all other related business initiatives throughout lifecycle of a product. Serves as the resident expert and knowledgeable resource for assigned therapeutic areas for the medical information group as well as internal business partners.
Accountable for ensuring that the Medical Information team executes against department/company strategy, goals and objectives and continually seeks efficiencies and process improvements to maximize resources. Participates in discussions related to the development/enhancement and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the department. In addition, is responsible for supporting the development and training of employees within the department through performance coaching, development discussions and mentoring. Participates in management development and training initiatives to meet current and future business needs. Develops and trains staff to achieve their maximum potential based on the needs of their needs and that of the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the general operations of the therapeutic teams to ensure high quality performance and continuous process improvement. Utilizes effective project and people management skills to ensure achievement of department goals and objectives.
2. Reviews standard response letters and other product information documents to ensure accuracy, currency, and fair-balance of all clinical information provided by Medical Information staff.
3. Liaises with other Medical Affairs line functions to effectively manage projects and ensure medical accuracy, currency and fair-balance of materials reviewed (e.g. Clinical slide sets, publications).
4. Provides direction/guidance to staff and participates in activities related to commercial/brand product support. Coordinates departmental participation in CRC and related activities for the purpose of ensuring medical accuracy, currency and fair-balance of promotional materials.
5. Interacts with Sales Training to identify trends and emerging data. Coordinates departmental participation in review of sales training materials, including presentations, modules, and overall clinical training.
6. Fosters relationships with key internal business partners to ensure awareness of company issues that may potentially affect the group. Prioritizes major or emergent issues within the daily operations of the department and aids management in the development of actions plans for unexpected events (e.g. product recall, label change).
7. Develops and empowers a high-performing team that proactively seeks learning opportunities to promote professional growth while meeting business needs. Continually seeks and matches business initiatives/stretch assignments to individual development plans.
8. Ensures awareness of current trends within the industry. Establishes best practices within the Medical Information group and shares knowledge with and assists global Medical Information affiliates and external Medical Information vendors, as necessary.
9. Acts as liaison/represents Medical Information at intra- and interdepartmental meetings, participating in decisions that impact the overall medical and commercial support of products within the therapeutic teams.
10. Provides input and participates in decisions that affect the overall workload, strategies, functional capabilities, and operations of the Medical Information group. Integral in establishing the long range goals and objectives for the department, including making decisions regarding process improvements, resources, policies and procedures.
11. Develops and trains team to achieve their maximum potential based on their needs and the needs of the organization through performance coaching, development and mentoring. Participates in management development and training initiatives to meet current and future business needs.
12. Creates and implements departmental SOPs regarding processes and procedures necessary to achieve organizational objectives and for complying with government regulations and company policy. Evaluates adherence to policies/procedures and institutes corrective action when needed.
13. Provides input into departmental budget via analysis of the department workload and resource requirements, estimates for work by vendors and software and/or hardware expenditures.
14. Conducts business in accordance with Celgene Values.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Demonstrated record of leadership, professional advancement and accomplishments
Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Flexible, with positive attitude, strong ability to multi task, prioritize projects effectively and
communicate at all levels within the company
Familiarity with electronic referencing databases preferred
Strong PC experience and Microsoft Word experience required
Strong Access, Excel, and PowerPoint skills required
Some travel required to represent company at medical conferences, presentations, and other
meetings
