Description Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Associate Director, Clinical Trial Contracting to join our Clinical Trial Contracting Department located at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. As an Associate Director, Clinical Trial Contracting you will oversee and manage the workload, performance and project status of deliverables and projects assigned to and involved with CTC, direct, develop and manage CTC processes and systems, assuring appropriate standardization, compliance, quality, development and training, and directly supervise and develop CTC Contract Managers and the Manger of CTC Operations, including performance management, development, training and evaluations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Workload / Project Management: Oversee and manage the workload, performance and project status of deliverables and projects assigned to and involved with CTC. Develop metrics and tools to report on and analyze performance and deliverables. Develop and implement strategies to address workload or project performance issues, including the engagement and management of direct external support by strategic partners as needed. Process Management: Direct, develop and manage CTC processes and systems, assuring appropriate standardization, compliance, quality, development and training. Specifically address processes for template management, legal review, sign off and clinical trial budget development. Employee Management and Development: Directly supervise and develop CTC Contract Managers and the Manger of CTC Operations, including performance management, development, training and evaluations. Contracting Strategy: Maintain knowledge and involvement in the current business, legal, compliance and operational issues relating to contracting with clinical investigators. Monitor, anticipate, address and escalate issues whether resulting from internal or external sources. Ensure the development of fair and reasonable compensation and payment schedules for site trial activities that are compensated either directly or indirectly based on a protocol. Effectively communicate contracting issues to Senior Management. Operational Participation: As needed and appropriate perform the tasks assigned within CTC including the roles and responsibilities of a Contract Manager for specified trials and potentially other operational duties of the department. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years demonstrated successful and progressive related business experience. Experience in contract management and/or clinical trial operations required. Must have demonstrated employee management skills and experience in a leadership or management role. Additional management education is desirable with a Master's degree preferred. Requires demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse functioning department which is continually under timeline and volume pressure. Must have compelling leadership skills and demonstrated capacity for continuous improvement. Must be able to strategically identify, analyze and address performance and subsequent results and develop innovative practical solutions. Requires a solid understanding of business processes, basic finance, contract administration, legal and project management.
