Description Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Clinical Science Consultant to join our Clinical Science department for our Greensboro, NC territory. The 'Clinical Science Consultant' is responsible for participating in implementation of the BIPI marketing/market development plan to ensure maximum awareness of the BIPI targeted disease state(s) and treatment objectives. The CSC will also work to increase market penetration of BIPI and co-promoted products within BIPI guidelines. The 'Clinical Science Consultant' will conduct their business in a specified territory with key targeted physicians (approx 125) who may be associated with medical group practices and other targeted accounts. Responsibilities: Maintains and utilizes expert clinical knowledge and highly effective selling skills in order to influence targeted health care professionals to appropriately increase recognition, diagnosis and treatment rates within BIPI marketed disease state. Executes brand strategies to ensure a consistent company sales and marketing message. Establishes and maintains effective communication/cooperation/coordination with co-promotion partners, BIPI field sales, Managed Markets account management and HQO counterparts as appropriate. Pre-call plans to meet health care professionals' (HCP) disease state and practice needs. Builds discussion around HCP needs and opportunities. Has accurate and timely follow-up discussions with HCP. Fosters ongoing interaction and partners with HCP in execution of market development plans with HCP. Uses appropriate BIPI Sales Training techniques to facilitate the HCP decision making process. Engages HCP in continuation of care models, including discharge protocol, treatment algorithms, and disease management resources to assist the HCP with the delivery of optimal care. Analyzes territory information to optimize HCP calls. Work closely with other BIPI representatives to improve an HCPs treatment of appropriate patients. Develops plans to maximize market development programs. Adjusts implementation plans on a regular basis (speaker mgmt., advocate development, etc.). Utilizes VISTA and supporting analysis to plan, report and monitor activity, document in-service placement and maintain accounts and HCP records. Completes all administrative responsibilities as directed by management. Successfully completes all Sales Training requirements. Identifies thought leaders, innovators and advocates while working with them to implement BIPI market development initiatives. Works with trained speakers for given topics. Provides feedback and follow-up to speakers and attendees. Initiates contacts and network-building among thought leaders and clinicians. Develops realistic plans to identify speakers and thought leaders. Manages programs and budgets to stay within standards. Provide presentations to HCPs who maybe associated with medical groups, community hospitals, and teaching hospitals e.g., residency/fellowship, as well as other qualified medical venues, etc as determined by HCP target plans and account plans as appropriate. Perform all Company business, including conducting all promotional activities, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures (including, but not limited to, the Anti-Kickback laws, PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, False Claims Act, FDA laws and regulations, privacy laws, equal employment and Prescription Drug Marketing Act). When suspected violations of these requirements are noted or observed, they are immediately reported in good faith in accordance with Company policy. Demonstrate high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIPI's reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community. Requirements The 'CSC' is required to have an advanced science degree (PharmD, MD, PhD) or professional medical background (NP, PA, RPh, or RN). Previous sales experience preferred but not required. Individuals should have significant experience working with health care practitioners. Direct experience in customer facing roles such as medical science liaison, health economic coordinator, sales, or similar role is preferred. Individuals with a MS degree or higher (Pharm D, PhD, etc.) should have significant healthcare industry experience (5-7 years). Knowledge of assigned therapeutic area is preferred. Strong understanding of managed care and its' impact on the industry. Excellent judgment and problem solving skills. Good Computer skills ie. proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal ability. Should reside in territory geography or be willing to relocate. Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record. Authorization and ability to drive a Company leased vehicle or authorized rental vehicle. Ability to travel - generally 30% including overnights. Maybe up to 50% depending upon geography.
