Job Responsibilities Summary
This position is responsible for the following: Working closely with software development teams to conduct and lead user interface (UI) design tasks. Conducting user and task analysis as a basis for UI design and to identify usability requirements. Creating wireframes and storyboards of UI designs with a focus on usability and user experience. Preparing user profiles, task scenarios, and UI specifications documents. Supporting usability testing of wireframes, prototypes, and builds. Coordinating and contributing to usability inspections of user interfaces. Facilitating design workshops and walkthroughs. Maintaining knowledge in current industry standards, techniques, and best practices for UI design. Coaching, consulting and mentoring team members. Assisting in establishing corporate standards, patterns, and practices for UI design. This position is required to comply with Highmark Corporate Policies and ISG Procedures and Standards.
Required Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Five (5+) plus years experience with user-centered interface design of software, and with usability and human-computer interaction principles and best practices is required. Three (3+) plus years experience with usability evaluations is required. Three (3+) plus years working in a technical environment similar to Highmark's (This includes familiarity with Web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Struts, JSF, Portal, etc.) is required. Three (3+) plus years experience managing projects is required. Three (3+) plus years experience writing technical or business documentation is required. Three (3+) plus years experience analyzing information about users, tasks, and software systems is required.
Preferred Qualifications
A BA/BS or MA/MS preferred. Candidates are preferred to have some education, training, or certification in human-computer interaction, UI design, usability evaluations, or related fields. This includes demonstrated self-study through books, Web sites, or other resources. Technical skills in software development are a plus. Graphic design skills are a plus.
