Overview:
Are you a hands-on leader that can make a huge impact on a dynamic, fast moving business? Amazon.com is seeking an outstanding leader to manage operations for our highly complex and mission-critical global financial systems. You will help grow a multi-tier support organization, manage relationships with offshore managers and peers, and help guide technical direction for the financial services and systems used at Amazon today. The support and database engineers in your team will troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and resolve software issues in our custom applications and internal end-user applications. You will help ensure proper integration with other teams system applications (e.g. supply chain systems, fulfillment center systems, retail buying systems, internal developer tools) through effective staffing, monitoring and operational metrics reporting. You must be detail-oriented, a quick decision maker, and have a passion for getting things right.
This role requires working closely with customers to scope work requests, where you manage expectations and help prioritize multiple parallel projects across disparate organizations. Your teams will support a set of complex scripts (UNIX shell, Perl, pl/SQL, Oracle Financial Application workflows, etc.), databases and tools (C++, Java, J2EE) used to manage Amazon.coms massive financial reporting workflow. You will work with product development to align your process with the design of next-generation systems, ensuring alignment with our long term strategic objectives. This position involves regular communication with senior management on status, risks and emergent issues. Excellent listening, writing skills and very strong technical competency are essential. Required Skills
* Communications: ability to be clear and concise both verbally and in writing. Experience working with management in remote sites is a must.
* Technical knowledge/passion: Demonstrates abundant intellectual horsepower, able to solve problems using clear, smart algorithms; comfortable with data structures and CS concepts. Always seeks to fix repetitive problems through automation
* Bachelors degree in CS or advanced Degree in CS, or 8+ years industry and at least 3 year experience in managerial role
* Demonstrated previous skill in recruiting, retention, management of telecommuters, and effective performance management.
* SOx controls, Financial Systems experience is a big plus
