Time Warner Cables Carolina Region
Technical Operations department currently
seeks a Broadband Tech for their
Winston Salem, NC. Please find below a brief
description of the essential duties and
responsibilities required to function
successfully in this position.
Shift: Sun-Thurs 12:30 - 9:30pm
Location: Winston Salem
Purpose: Responsible for installing one or all
of the following at the customers home or
office: cable, high speed data, and digital
phone.
Equipment installed may include analog or
digital systems for video, high-speed data
and voice.
Essential Job Functions:
* Directly responsible for installation from
the tap to the customers equipment.
* Accountable for referring problems
between the tap and headend to plant
technicians.
* Installs equipment and network interface
units and drop wires into customer location.
* Disconnects and reconnects service as
instructed.
* Tests equipment to adjust signal strength
and ensure optimum reception.
* Communicates with customers on-site,
encouraging them to upgrade equipment or
service packages.
* Demonstrates ability to learn equipment
and steps required for correct installations
and basic problem solving.
* Handles routine installations.
* When non-routine issues arise, chooses
from clear cut courses of action for next
steps or escalates.
* Receives detailed instructions on all work.
* Work is closely supervised and reviewed for
completeness and accuracy.
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
2 year degree or equivalent work experience
is a plus.
Experience/Skills Required
Experience in troubleshooting and repair as
an Installer or Field Technician is preferred.
Previous cable experience is a plus, and a
strong electronics/electrical or structured
wiring background is preferred. Computer
skills are a plus. Requires possession of valid
driver's license, as well as good driving
record.
Travel requirements and frequency:
Within the division in company vehicle,
return home each day.
Communication Skill level:
Must be able to communicate both verbally
and in writing with customers, peers, and
superiors.
Reasoning ability:
Basic mechanical aptitude required as well as
ability to climb utility poles, work outdoors
year round, follow instructions, and be
unafraid of heights.

Physical Requirements as they relate to
essential functions:
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
and background check. Must be of a weight
of 270 lbs. (or less) fully clothed and
maintain this weight or (less) to comply with
safety requirements.
