The National Security Technology Applications (NSTA)division of ITT Corp. - Information Systems, is seeking a Communications Specialist - Technical Writer/Editor to support the Intelligence Community at our customer site in metro Washington, DC. NSTA is an R&D business unit of ITT supporting DOD, the Intelligence Community, and government customers nationwide.
Our customer's Communications Branch mission is to coordinate corporate communications, manage corporate marketing activities, provide editing and graphic support, and maintain a web presence. The Communications Branch goal is to support the director in communicating Mission, Vision, Values, and Core Competencies.
The Communications Specialist will primarily be responsible for support of the corporate communications program, and the planning, design, administration, standardization, coordination, execution and delivery of communications in support of its business process. The Communications Specialist shall also be responsible for crafting/providing briefings, developing communications documents, and helping other members of the Communications Branch.
The Communications Specialist will develop a communications program that will familiarize both internal and external customers with the capabilities and services the customer provides. Responsible for crafting briefings, speeches, and corporate messages; direct communications support to the customer's Front Office and Mission Focus Areas; and editing corporate documents. Gather and present communications data, provide overview briefings, represent Communications at a variety of meetings, provide quality assurance, act as a liaison, administer communications-related activities and events, and provide backup to other members of Communications.
Experience Requirements:
This position requires a BS/BA degree, preferably in English, Journalism, Communications, or other related field, and 5+ years of experience. At least four years of directly related writing and editing experience is required without the specified degree.
Candidate must have strong computer skills and proficiency on PC platforms using the Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with electronic publishing and the publication production process. Must have good written and oral communications skills, the ability to present to diverse audiences, and strong customer services skills. Have familiarity with basic product design principles.
Desired skills include proven success working on a team, and experience performing customer service and support.
