Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Applies advanced technical knowledge and experience to the overall aerostat system operations and maintenance that may not be accomplished solely by reference to manufacturer's manuals or similar TARS O&M documentation.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.Qualified to operate the aerostat launch/recovery control systems including their back-up systems.
2.Directs and performs corrective and preventive activities on the aerostat pressure and control subsystems, power subsystems, mechanical and hydraulic subsystems, aerostat hardware and rigging, tether subsystem, and aerostat envelope.
3.Performs operation and maintenance of enclosed mooring system and winch vehicles, site power generators, standard motor vehicles, special man lift vehicles, and forklifts.
4.May be assigned Vehicle Maintenance Officer (VMO) duties.
5.Directs and performs all aerostat system preflight and post-flight checks and aerostat system inspections as required.
6.Directs and performs operations and maintenance of compressed-gas equipment, including helium transfers to the aerostat for inflation and replenishment purposes.
7.Directs and performs maintenance on aerostat engine generator sets if applicable.
8.Coordinates all resupply and repair logistics activities for aerostat and mechanical subsystems.
9.Qualified to train and certify other personnel in selected aerostat system procedures and on the proper operation of all aerostat special purpose vehicles (e.g., 90-150 foot Hi-Rangers, self-propelled aerial platforms, forklifts).
10.May be assigned Quality Control duties as required.
11.Directs and performs corrosion control and site facilities maintenance.
12.Functions as a key member of the flight crew for inflation, deflation, launch, recovery, and in-flight activities.
Experience Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school graduate.
Experience:5 years' mechanical maintenance experience.
