The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) reports to the Director/Team leader and works under the direction of a licensed RN assigned with the CNA for the shift. The CNA accepts direction regarding tasks from licensed RN. Understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in regard to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and the department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, through modeling of appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Direct patient care: assist with the following task under the direction of an RN: orienting families to the Unit/Hospital, vital signs measurement per unit policy, ambulating patients, range of motion, skin care/bathing/hair care, bed making, intake and output measures, documentation of patient data per unit policy, emptying fluid collection containers, as specified in unit policy, weighing patients, urine/nasogastric drainage testing, glucose testing, hemecult testing, filling out menus, PO feeding, setup and priming of NG/OG feeds per unit policy, oral care of extubated patients, bulb suctioning, oral suctioning with yankauer, assisting with procedures, assisting with intra hospital transport, holding patients, providing comfort measures. Stocking and maintenance of supplies and rooms. Clerical work and cleaning is required.

Requirements
Summary of Job Requirements:
Certified Nursing Assistant work experience as well as current C.N.A Certification with the State of Illinois required. High school degree or equivalent.
Must be able to safely immobilize children if necessary and be able to move equipment and patients.
Must be able to respond quickly to patient care situations. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians, and patient care staff, and meet professional image and communication standards. Bilingual ability preferred.
Full-Time Position: .9FTE (72 hrs/pp) Required Shift: 7a-7:30p
