Position Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the TARS Quality Control function in accordance with the Quality Control Plan. Quality Auditor in the El Paso TARS Support Center (EPTSC) and at the operational sites for scheduled periodic inspections, personnel evaluations and provides training for the on-site technicians. Backfills for Site Mangers (SMs) and supports short notice, emergency responses to provide equipment repair and maintenance, when required. Prepares and updates inspection checklists, publishes the inspection schedules, performs all required inspections, documents discrepancies, and conducts follow-up as required.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.Applies advanced technical analytical skills and knowledge to solve unusually complex problems with aerostat electronic equipment beyond the capabilities of individual sites.
2.Directs and performs depot-level maintenance on items shipped to the depot for repair such as telemetry and command assemblies, pressurization and control assemblies, power distribution assemblies, meteorological equipment, ground station electronic equipment, communications assemblies, azimuth drives and controllers, radar assemblies, and electrical/electronic support equipment.
3.Travels to the sites to direct and perform intermediate level maintenance on ground station equipment, aerostat electronics equipment, weather radars, tethers, and payload equipment.
4.Fabricates electrical cable assemblies at the depot IAW system technical documentation. Qualified to perform aerostat inflations and deflations in the field.
5.Participates in special investigations.
6.Writes maintenance reports and recommendations for system improvements.
7.Trained to operate standard and special electrical/electronic test equipment.
8.Provides depot level maintenance, repair, modification, and technical support for the ATS, TDC, CRP, and DPS-5 systems.
9.Coordinates resupply and repair logistics activities for the aerostat electronics subsystems.
10.Trains and certifies other personnel in selected aerostat electronic subsystem procedures.
11.May be required to work in special man-lift vehicles. Qualified as a member of the flight crew for launch, recovery, maintenance, and in-flight activities.
12.Performs aspects of technical supply management work (e.g., inventory management, storage management, cataloging, property utilization) related to depot, local, or other supply activities.
13.Spend approximately half of the time in EPTSC.
14.Spend the other half of the time at the operational sites for scheduled and periodic visits.
15.Visits can consist of inspections, training, and back-fill for site managers/technicians.
16.When performing their duties as QSO inspectors, they have the full authority of the QSO as if they were actually assigned from the PMO.
17.Of particular importance is their additional function to support short notice, emergency responses to provide equipment repair and maintenance, when so required.
18.Required to complete ITT VBSS Green Belt training and certification course.
19.Required to complete JTP-200FAST in order to back-fill as SM

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Remote site field visits, traveling.
Experience Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates degree or graduate of a 2-year Technical School
Experience: 4 years electrical technical experience.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
