Description
The Business Analyst's role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of project stakeholders, be they customers or end-users. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to convey those business needs to development teams.
This individual analyzes business processes and practices in an effort to focus the design and implementation of information technology solutions that meet customer needs and business initiatives. This individual collaborates on an on-going basis with the Programmer/Analysts and project stakeholders and applies proven communications, analytical and problem solving skills to help support the development process, and to ensure the project deliverables meet specifications.
Qualifications
Able to analyze and understand the business problems. Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
Able to identify and document requirements
Able to plan and manage activities
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
Able to build cohesive teams and possess a strong customer focus
Fundamental understanding of project management concepts
Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required
Knowledge of software applications
Working knowledge of programming languages, network, operating systems and standards
Highly self-motivated and directed
Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
In some areas, there might be a need for working knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including switches, routers, firewalls OSPF, BGP, IPSec, and SSL
