Description
Provides overall direction, guidance and definition of an enterprise''s architecture to effectively support the corporate business strategy. Interfaces across several business areas, proactively assist in defining the direction for future architecture solutions. Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling and execution of such solutions. Directs multiple teams of architects involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of large-scale IT architecture projects. Ensures projects are completed within committed time and budget and are integrated with other architecture projects. Generates architecture policies, standards and procedures. Typically requires twelve or more years of experience.
Major Duties
Provide architectural strategy and subject matter expertise in the following areas:
- Define and lead the development of the enterprise architecture for the Online Experience Strategy and strategic projects on the WebIT portfolio.
- Creation of Conceptual, Logical and Physical Architecture artifacts to define the software and hardware needs and support the solution build-out.
- Evaluate and select any key technologies.
- Define and lead the execution plan for the technical roadmap of the online experience program.
- Support the costing and budgeting activities related to the program. .
- Build consensus and drive resolution across the architect and delivery resources on technical issues
- Review and validate solution designs by other architects to ensure quality and cost standards are aligned to overall EA processes.
- Communication of the architectural strategy and status to all key stakeholders.
- Mentor and support junior level architects as well as assist in the evaluation of contractors and/or new hires.
- Coordinate and direct the work of other senior level architects working on various project that are delivered by the WebIT organization
Responsibilities
An individual at the Architecture Director level must be able to lead the architecture design and provide guidance \ direction during the requirements and technical design project phases. Day to day activities will include utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and architecture best practices to ensure tasks associated with the delivery of significant projects are completed on time with a high degree of quality. Provides comprehensive consultation to the business unit, IT management and staff at the highest technical level on architectural recommendations and processes. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work efficiently to meet aggressive deadlines and produce high-quality results by leveraging strong technical skills.
The primary function of this position is to provide architectural guidance, technology recommendations and transition strategies that support the development and implementation of initiatives based on common delivery, services-based architecture, and agility for complex and/or multiple projects. This role will serve as the primary architecture lead for supporting the WebIT area, and will focus on ongoing portfolio delivery and execution of the online experience strategy.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving architectural recommendations. Ensure architectural adherence throughout the design process. Adopt and communicate new concepts, ideas, techniques, best practices and technology assistance. Support project level design, debug and performance analysis. Work with vendors and product management areas to establish required infrastructures and frameworks. Provide creative solutions to solve business and technical needs. Perform product evaluations, and Proof of Concepts.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated delivery experiences across the technology stack used to build modern, high quality, high available websites including presentation frameworks, Web 2.0 concepts, Portal/Portlets, Web Content Management, Search, etc.
- Experience as an enterprise architect working on programs of similar size and scope as the online experience strategy.
- Strong knowledge of web technology infrastructures and enterprise Messaging and Middleware technologies
- Demonstrated depth of skills in several of the following domains: Programming Languages (Java/J2EE, Mainframe, .Net), XML, WebServices, EAI, DB2, Oracle, Software Design, QA, Mainframe Platform, Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, AIX, and Mainframe), ESB, CEP, MDM/CDI.
- B.S. in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience, typically ten or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT web and client/server design. Self-motivated and highly professional.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated systems development experience and strong knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management life cycle.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work effectively with diverse groups of peers and business partners.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Critical thinker - Able to integrate company goals and objectives into department goals and activities/communications -can work with a blank sheet of paper. Detailed oriented, excellent ability to multi-task: addressing critical daily issues as well as keeping focus on strategic tasks
- Process oriented: ability to efficiently identify root cause to establish repeatable/sustainable processes.
- Flexible: Can adapt to changing organizations, changing business needs etc
- Able to lead and motivate a team of people to execute on all activities related to the development and implementation of solutions based on the established conceptual architecture.
