Description
Will act as an Actuate Reporting Developer on one or more potential contract engagements along with business and IT users to create and enhance requirements for reporting needs. Authors reporting design documents of sufficient detail to be handed-off for development. Is also capable of independently constructing reports. Can comprehend and analyze complex data relationships in multiple, enterprise databases in order to generate high quality designs. Handles reporting production support problems as required when production support team escalates.
Responsibilities
Designing / creating Actuate reports.
Migration of Web Focus reports to Actuate.
General (non-reporting) development as required.
Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
Analyzes business and user needs, and translates them into system requirement specifications, as well as considering the business implications and the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
Understands the technical architecture of the systems assigned and helps make decisions about the feasibility of various options.
Develops, analyzes, specifies, validates, and documents statements of work, tier 1 & tier 2 Estimates, system design documents, code, unit test plans, and implementation guides.
May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions.
Qualifications
2+ years of Actuate Reporting development skills
Oracle database work experience and experience creating Oracle PL/SQL code.
Web Focus skills are a plus.
Experience in modern (.NET, Java) general development languages is a plus.
Knowledge of software development life cycle.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to effectively work with various customer management levels and end-users with varying technical abilities.
Must be available on a contractual basis
Contract to Hire status is highly preferrable but not required.
