Description
Skilled mainframe COBOL architect/designer/developer to perform a variety of functions including data modeling, database design, applications design and review, applications development and modification, and performance tuning.
Responsibilities
Design and implement data models and normalized logical database designs
Develop technical specs by working with the business, business analysts, or systems analysis to gather requirements
Perform detailed analysis of existing COBOL applications and make implementable and cost-effective recommendations aligned with CIGNA technology strategy
Develop applications as necessary to support CIGNA Dentals business units to provide solutions based on stated business requirements
Document, test, implement, and provide on-going production support for the applications as required
Ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget and are of the highest quality, meeting all team standards.
Prepares specifications and project plans for complex processes and database computer Systems involving on-line and batch procedures
Code complex processes using strong technical or application knowledge and database expertise, and performs system integration tasks.
Provide technical guidance to contract developers, Systems Analysis, and Quality Assurance.
Prepare designs and specifications for applications or programs.
Assist in the formulation and documentation of test plans and project plans and reviews test results.
Maintain systems technical currency with the industry and trends and makes recommendations
Perform research and development into tools and techniques to improve efficiencies and integration of applications both within the mainframe applications as well as across applications.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science
Full SDLC applications development with at least 9 years DB2 and 5 to 6 years CICS
In-depth knowledge of VSAM, DB2, CICS, COBOL, JCL, and DB2 database tools
Solid knowledge and experience utilizing DB2 stored procedures and functions
In-depth experience in the design and development of online and batch database systems
Expert in relational database and SQL
Solid experience developing normalized logical and physical data models
Solid application tuning experience
Experience with .NET (ASP.NET, VB.NET, ADO.NET) a plus
SOA knowledge and experience a strong plus
JAVA experience a plus
Healthcare experience a plus
