SummaryThe Director of Business Development in Licensed Businesses has responsibility for the overall strategic development and management of specific business categories. The director develops growth and expansion strategies, negotiates contractual agreements with business partners and has overall business income responsibility. The director is also responsible for the identification and development of new strategic licensed business opportunities for SHC. The position is responsible to establish the business model and sourcing structure for assigned categories of business. All initiatives will be focused on delivering planned income to SHC. Activities include: Existing Business Categories: Coordination with licensed business partners to set customer proposition, merchandise, promotional, pricing, and business expansion strategies. Develop and direct the implementation of business synergy programs with other SHC entities. Collaborate with partners to analyze the current performance of all markets and develop strategies to improve performance. Coordinate and direct the various support groups/teams with the needs of the business. Manage the renewal and/or non-renewal of existing business contracts.New Business Development: Identification and analysis of new strategic licensed business opportunities. Identification of potential strategic business partners linking SHC strategy and priorities to key new business opportunities. New business development will focus on the identification of partners with the capacity to operate in major regional or national markets. Negotiation and execution of new business contracts. Develop and direct business roll-out/expansion strategies. Some businesses do not offer all benefits shown.Critical Areas of Responsibilities:Business Category and Partner Evaluation&Development: Accountable for all aspects of new opportunity evaluation and development including consumer needs assessment, competitive environment review, profit model evaluation and executional feasibility assessmentas well as internal business, financial and contract approvals.Project Leadership: Develop relationships and work with internal business partners and critical areas such as IT, merchandising, marketing, on-line, etc. as well as potential third party providers to support implementation of business initiatives. Handle all aspects of cross-functional project management and execution. Profit and Loss Management: In coordination with partners, create annual financial plan; update monthly performance and financial forecasts and address deficiencies through actionable plans.Contract Compliance and Management: Negotiate and manage the development and execution of contracts. Oversee proper execution of negotiated contract terms. Manage contract renewals and related terms.Relationship Management: Represent business needs to internal support functions to maximize visibility and sales of partners within SHC marketing and distribution channels. Develop external communication strategy that maintains an open and collaborative flow of information with partners. Specialized Requirements of Position: Broad understanding of strategic business issues facing retailers today with a proven ability to find and develop new business opportunities that address these issues. Demonstrated capacity to build and sell business cases. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with proven ability to drive results of non-report directs/third parties through influence and communication; experienced at forging and nurturing relationships across business lines and companies. Thorough knowledge of contract management and contract terms with demonstrated experience in contract negotiation.
