POSITION SUMMARY:
Reports to the Director, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance and is responsible for assisting the Director, Associate Director and committee chair(s), Principal Investigators, the by providing education and training regarding federal, state , local regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures governing research. Manages activities related to quality assurance and post approval monitoring of ongoing research protocols. Responsible for the development and implementation of post approval monitoring activities. The position is responsible for working with the Director, ORIC, on compliance related activities such as accreditation and general department administration.

Area Specific Job Accountabilities:
1 In collaboration with the Director, ORIC, plans, and facilitates all ORIC education and training initiatives;
2 Coordinates and provides training and education for committee(s) members, ORIC staff, Principal Investigators, and CMMC research staff, as well as department specific education and training sessions to disseminated information regarding applicable regulations and institutional policies;
3 Supervises, provides training as needed, and evaluates ORIC staff as assigned;
4 Assists the Director ORIC and Associate Director, ORIC, on large scale projects related to the improvement of research compliance processes and regulatory compliance, such as implementation of electronic submissions, training and outreach sessions, and development of policies, procedures, and SOP as assigned;
5 Provides orientation and education for committee members, ensures committee rosters are compliant with OHRP/FDA/OLAW requirements as applicable;
6 Advises and guides on a routine basis Principal Investigators (PIs) on HIPAA, and institutional regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines as they prepare their submissions;
7 Develop and implements the post approval monitoring program (PAM); alerts the Director, ORIC and committee chair of issues identified during PAM and any compliance issues that may need closer review;
8 Oversees ORIC staff as needed in evaluating submissions and applications for completeness and conformance to IRB application rules;
9 Ensures appropriate documentation of and assures compliance with the committee(s) conflict of interest policies;
10 Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others;
11 Supports the Director, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, on regulatory and assurance issues;
12 Other duties as assigned.
FTE status: FT-80
Requirements
1. A level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelors Degree (unspecified area).
2. One to three years of research administration or regulatory review committee experience in a hospital, university or other research setting.
3. Certified IRB Professional (CIP) preferred.
4. Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact and communicate effectively with physicians, Principal Investigators, and medical center personnel, and external funding agencies, and to maintain a variety of internal and external contacts.
5. Possess an excellent command of the English language;
6. Organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer software is required.
