Provide technical solutioning for current and future business needs. Participates in roadmap planning and ensure alignment with enterprise direction. Participates in cross-functional project teams to define, develop and implement technical solutions. br/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: br/ br/ 1. Evaluates hardware and software for future business expansion; recommends short-and long-term technical architecture plans that align with the business objective. br/ br/ 2. Interfaces with Enterprise architecture team to ensure short and long term technical architecture plans align with Sears Holdings strategic direction. br/ br/ 3. Interfaces with support teams to provide technical expertise for issue resolution to maintain efficient operations. br/ br/ 4. Subject matter expert in assisting development work teams in developing and troubleshooting application changes that interface with system architecture. br/ br/ 5. Prepares and writes request for proposals; evaluates vendor offering to determine if contract, hardware or software meets quality and cost standards. Prepares cost benefit analysis to select optimal solution. br/ br/ 6. Prepares and presents architecture strategy and direction to all levels of management. br/ br/ 7. Evaluate application and environment monitoring results and make recommendations for continuous improvement. br/ br/ 8. Remains current on industry standards and technology. Continuously incorporate innovative ideas into the current and future direction for the business. br/ br/ 9. Provides input to performance appraisals for Technical Specialists and Lead Developers. br/ br/ br/ ROLE MEASUREMENTS: br/ br/ 1. Deliver on time and on budget. br/ br/ 2. Effectiveness of mentoring Technical Specialist and Lead Developers on technical concepts and techniques. br/ br/ 3. Deliver quality system design and architecture. br/ br/ 4. Assist in problem determination and resolution for complex system outages or chronic problems. br/ br/ 5. Effectiveness of architecture documentation. br/ br/ KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: br/ br/ 1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, specialized computer systems training or equivalent; Master's degree in computer information systems is preferred. br/ br/ 2. Minimum of 10+ years systems or application architecture with 5+ with years of experience with object-oriented design and development using the J2EE platform including JDBC, Servlets and Java/J2EE design patterns. br/ br/ 3. Object Oriented Design and Programming, J2EE applications, tier components (JDBC, Servlets, JMS, JNDI, etc.), Java/J2EE design patterns, SOAP, Web Services and stand alone Java applications br/ br/ 4. Deep understanding of web services software architectural and design issues. br/ br/ 5. Experience with Model View Controller Frameworks such as Jakarta Struts, EJBs and E-commerce systems is a big plus. br/ br/ 6. Strong knowledge of infrastructure, application development technology and networking. br/ br/ 7. Works well in a team environment and able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements. br/ br/ 8. Ability to evaluate technology and assess viability for integration with business strategy. br/ br/ 9. Candidate must enjoy a fast-pace environment and possess strong software engineering skills. br/ br/ 10. Ability to adapt to new development environments, changing business requirements and learning new systems highly desired br/ br/ 11. Strong technical vision, presentation and technology leadership skills. br/ br/ 12. Experience with high volume transactional systems highly preferred. br/ br/ 13.
