Summary Responsible for maintaining the Bank''s Asset/Liability Management (ALM) Model and for generating timely reports and analyses for use by internal management and the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO). Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Asset/Liability Management Model''s database and assumptions, and for controlling the quality and accuracy of various financial reports to include interest rate risk management reports and the financial performance forecast. Responsible for advising the Asset/Liability Manager of changes in the Bank''s interest rate risk profile on a regular and as requested basis through standardized reports, and for revising and enhancing the Model as requested by Asset/Liability Manager, Treasurer, and CFO. by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Updates the Asset/Liability Management Model on at least a monthly basis, including but not limited to: review and revisions of underlying assumptions, and application of existing data management routines
Generates accurate, timely and comprehensible interest rate risk management reports in the form of valuation and income sensitivity reports for ALCO meetings and as requested
Provides critical analysis of modeling results for purposes of internal validation and explaining risk positions to management
Supports the quantitative and analytical needs of market risk management through derivation of forward and deterministic interest rate curves and causal variables, ensuring proper economic and accounting value approaches are incorporated in modeling, and maintenance of the department''s prepayment forecasts and runoff functions
Responsible for the effective data extraction and validation processes as related to the monthly A/L model update process so as to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reported results
Develops techniques and procedure for analyzing individual balance sheet portfolios to assess their impact to balance sheet strategy and earnings to include core deposit retention and deposit decay analysis as well as loan portfolio duration analysis
Works with appropriate personnel in the Commercial, Consumer, and Residential Mortgage areas to recommend strategies that integrate the Company''s balance sheet design to enhance and protect earnings and growth
Supports the Commercial, Retail, and Residential Mortgage lending areas as required to improve the management of the profitability goals of those areas
Overall responsibility for the Company''s Loan Pricing Models and associated pricing matrices produced weekly; works with Asset/Liability Manager and appropriate lending division(s) personnel to maintain models'' integrity in unison with the Company''s lending strategies and profitability requirements
Maintains weekly/monthly processes for Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) - Key person involved in the companies FTP methodolgy specific to the measurement and assignment when assessing funds overall profit contribution of business units, products, and customers
Responsible as team member for administering matched-term method FTP approach which assigns unique transfer rates to each source and use of funds at the time of origination. Matched-term methods derive transfer rates from continuous term structure pricing curves that represent prevailing rates for wholesale investment/ borrowing alternatives available to the institution. Pricing curves are derived from treasury yield curves, interbank lending curves, interbank swap curves, or government agency advance curves
Supports integration of ALM processes with Company''s budgeting and strategic planning processes
With Asset/Liability manager, provides Basecase planning model to Financial Planning Group for use as basis for all forecast work and maintains synchronization with ALM chart of accounts with general ledger
Secondary Duties
Responsible for documenting procedures and maintaining controls to guarantee the continuous availability of accurate and timely financial information
Provides quantitative and analytical support to Asset/Liabiliy Manager and Treasurer as needed
Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of the developing ALM concepts
Interprets the results of the ALM Model to ensure the reasonableness of its output
Supplements other analysts as a resident expert in balance sheet instruments and provides guidance to funds management with identification of potential exposures stemming from ad-hoc investment strategy analysis

Education and/or Experience
Required:
Bachelor''s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or quantitative discipline; five years banking and three years BancWare experience
Preferred:
Coursework and/or professional training in data systems is preferred as is proficiency in use of database query and reporting tools and have direct experience in data management for complex financial applications.
Three to four years direct experience on Sungard BancWare ALM4 and/or ALM5
Language Skills
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing using the English language; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
