Responsibilities:

The Drilling Engineer is responsible for the front end design of major projects and/ or designing, planning, and supporting of drilling operations and post drilling analysis of deepwater wells. The engineer will work closely with the subsurface disciplines, subsea systems, other well disciplines (e.g. petroleum engineering, completions) and regulatory to come up with the safest and most efficient plans to drill a well while meeting all expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

* Supporting the Health Safety and Environmental Goal Zero targets of Shell (i.e. no harm to people and environment) and implementing process safety into the well design
* Participating in and developing an exciting and challenging Global Deepwater Portfolio
* Responsible for developing well engineering solutions for projects working with the prospect team to realize ideas and plans through Shells Well Delivery Process (WDP)
* Ensuring all wells are budgeted, planned & designed to applicable standards, regulatory requirements, policies and full consideration of HSE & Sustainability goals
* Translating plans to reality by managing the contributions of different vendors, coordinating well material and providing rig site support of planned operations as required
* Contributing technical and/or business initiative that furthers the capabilities of the Drilling Team
* Documenting and communicating learning from various projects
* Delivering the well on time and within budget constraints

Requirements:

* Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
* Ability and flexibility to travel to offshore both domestically and internationally typically 7 to 14 days per business required visit
* Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering or a relevant Engineering specialization
* Must have at least ten (10) years of drilling engineering experience or at least four (4) years of deepwater subsea wells design and operations experience from mobile offshore drilling units in the Gulf of Mexico if overall experience is under fifteen (15) years
* Demonstrated experience working on diverse, cross-functional teams
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders demands and issues on a Global scale
* Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deadlines
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
* Strong acumen for technology development and innovation
* Willingness to acquire drilling competencies through structured learning and professional exams, all this while contributing to projects or on rig site assignment
