DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:

Position Overview:

We are seeking candidates that have a strong background in understanding functional ingredients, and its applications in beverages.  Candidates should have a good understanding of nutritional sciences.

This position is responsible for developing science based nutritional platforms to enhance and expand the health and wellness benefits of Coca-Cola''s beverage portfolio.  This work requires expertise in the areas of nutrition sciences, biology, basic chemistry and beverage fortification.  This Scientist will work together with our health and wellness collaborators to develop a portfolio of functional ingredients and products as needed. Responsibilities include providing health and wellness benefits in accordance with population needs and the company''s strategic plans.  This will require an ability to develop products.

In addition this position is required to build value-based relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, universities, research agencies and others in the nutrition community to continuously identify and act on innovative fortification opportunities.

Function Specific Activities:

Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, log book or
laboratory notebook.

Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments (e.g., laboratory
or process experiments) in order to deliver new products; evaluate
ingredient, product or packaging safety, efficacy or claims; or
evaluate new ingredients, materials, products or processes.

Generate, document and execute a plan to select and/or develop
technology (e.g., packaging, tools, processes, equipment, products)
including managing the change control process, in order to meet the
project''s specific objectives (e.g., improve quality, deliver new
products, optimize processes).

Conduct review of scientific or other literature in order to maintain
and improve laboratory knowledge/skill, identify appropriate analytical
techniques for projects/studies, or gather confidential information
(e.g., information on activist groups).

Design, fabricate and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory
testing) a working package, equipment or product prototype/sample
against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance
specifications (e.g., functionality and operational feasibility).

Education:Bachelor''s Degree or equivalent work experience
Related Work Experience:At least 3 years

Technical Skills:

Proprietary Composition Information: Ability to recognize and protect
proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients.

Basic Formula Management System: Knowledge of data in the Formula
Management System, including reasonable value ranges and calculations
origin, and the ability to recognize inconsistencies. Includes the
ability to enter a formula or other information into the system and to
generate reports.

Basic Product Development: Knowledge of the product development
process and the ability to contribute expertise in customs, hazardous
transportation, worker safety and labeling.

Company Formulas: Knowledge of Company-specific rules for creating
formulas and formula codes.

Ingredients: Knowledge of key ingredients used in production of
concentrates and beverage bases (e.g., caramel, citric acid, benzoate,
juice, phosphoric acid, maltodextrin).
