Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience performing cost estimates of electric, transmission and substation projects.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or other technical field or equivalent combination education, training and experience.
- Typically possesses eight or more years in cost estimating.
- Demonstrated experience with large transmission line or substation projects.
- Demonstrated experience reading single line documents and translating them into cost estimates.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated experience with cost estimating software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated large project experience and the ability to lead teams composed of members from different disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to understand entire scope of project, including history, in order to produce complete and accurate estimates
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and train less experienced estimators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Word and PowerPoint, Access and Lotus Notes.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
Preferences:
Experience with Pro-Est software. Advanced degree in a related technical field.
Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely estimates that are consistent with company budgeting guidelines. The Senior Project Estimator will and lead multidisciplinary project teams that perform cost estimating, engineering review and risk assessment on some of the companys largest and most complicated construction projects, and will be involved in activities associated with infrastructure replacement and construction of new transmission lines and substations. Typical responsibilities will include: preparing conceptual planning and definitive estimates using ProEst estimating program; ensuring the consistency and accuracy of estimates; using estimating procedures and standards to maintain consistency and accuracy among the estimates; analyzing actual project costs against estimates to evaluate impacts to project costs; conducting variance and risk analyses; preparing and supplying data for regulatory reporting and General Rate Case (GRC) and Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (FERC) filings, and other duties and responsibilities as directed. The Senior Project Estimator will be expected to play a leading role in mentoring and training less experienced estimators, and will assume responsibility for the performance of the estimating teams performance including work product, accuracy, techniques, costing methodology and internal and external business relationships, and will be involved in maintaining online shared drive and data base to ensure estimates and data are up to date and available as well as perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
