Basic Qualifications:

Must have experience performing cost estimates of small to medium construction projects.

 

Core Competencies:

- A combination of education, training, and experience to obtain knowledge and abilities generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a high school.

- Typically possesses two or more years of experience with cost estimating.

- Demonstrated experience working on project teams.

- Demonstrated experience with construction techniques and practices.

- Demonstrated experience reading construction drawings.

- Excellent skills with Excel, exposure to cost estimating software.

- Demonstrated analytical skill, understanding of calculations and attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to work well with teams composed of members from multiple disciplines.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Experience prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Word and PowerPoint, Access and Lotus Notes.

- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.

- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, the ability

to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

 

Preferences:

AA or BS in Engineering or a related field.

 

Typical Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely estimates that are consistent with company budgeting guidelines. The Engineering Estimator will work on project teams from multiple disciplines that perform cost estimating, engineering review and risk assessment on some of the companys largest and most complicated construction projects, and will be involved in activities associated with infrastructure replacement and construction of new transmission lines and substations.

Typical responsibilities include: preparing conceptual planning and definitive estimates; ensuring the consistency and accuracy of estimates; using estimating procedures and standards to maintain consistency and accuracy among the estimates; providing estimate input into General Rate Case (GRC) filings and reports to upper management to help forecast the companies capital requirements; maintaining online shared drive and data base to ensure estimates and data are up to date and available, and other duties and responsibilities as directed.
