Responsibilities:
Responsible for management of onshore light tight oil (LTO) operations in the U.S. Prefer candidate with experience designing and executing hydraulic fracture treatments. Wells require hydraulic fracture treatments for economic production. Other challenges include long-reach horizontal wells, water production issues, water management, etc.
Specifically, the CWI Engineer is responsible for management of the completion and well intervention process for the fields assigned. This includes the HSSE, engineering, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and best practice sharing considerations to design and execute new well completions and workovers in these tight gas sand fields. Responsible for recommending engineering plans, mentoring other engineering staff, analyzing/managing project risk, working closely with the field operations in the execution of the operations, tracking/managing trouble time and costs and driving performance to lower costs and increase production. Works with the asset team to help guide the production of reserves and development of the fields while understanding and mitigating risk. Has a strong knowledge and commitment to HSSE through training, integrating HSSE into work plans/activities, managing contractor performance through established processes, and supporting sustainable development activities. Behavioral strengths include ability to analyze/solve problems, ability to communicate/persuade, innovativeness, ability to work within a team, self-starter, mentoring, customer focus, interpersonal skills including valuing differences in others including culture/ideas, and ability to deliver results. Expected to coach/mentor less experienced staff.
* The successful candidate is expected to actively interact with all Wells superintendents and engineers in the area assigned, as well as, HSSE staff, Venture, Exploration and Asset teams. Beyond the immediate Wells and Venture teams, must also form relationships and alliances with contractor staff, regulatory staff, JV partners, Contracts and Procurement (CP) staff, HSSE and HR.
* Key well challenges include well designs requiring multizone hydraulic fracturing techniques, horizontal/extended reach well operations, etc. to attain commercial production from these tight wells.
* A critical aspect of the CWI Engineers job is mentoring less experienced staff and also managing contractor services to achieve alignment between Shell and contractor goals.
Principal accountabilities of the position include the following:
* Project Design/Execution - Delivering world-class design/execution performance by embedding Revitalized Deliver-the-Limit (rDTL) as the way of working and implementing full use of the Well Delivery Process (WDP). Responsible for the design, planning and management of completion and well intervention operations, with the full integration of the CWI Operations team and Venture team subsurface members.
* HSSE Responsible for integrating HSSE in the design, procedures and execution of well work on completion and well intervention operations. Actively promote HSSE and Sustainable Development (SD) in all activities and ensure compliance with business principles.
* Reporting line will be to the CWI Engineering Team Lead with a very close working relationship with the CWI Superintendent and the Drilling Engineers. Provide conceptual well planning in addition to support of completion and well intervention operations in the UA Onshore tight/shale gas environment.
* Responsible for After Action Review (AAR) documentation and well handover to producing operations.
* Propose well work to meet the business plan including cycle time, cost and production targets. Accountable for managing well costs in line with business plan targets. Perform mechanical and economic lookbacks, as well as competitor benchmarking, to evaluate performance.
* Active role in CP (Contracts and Procurement) activities.
* Improving performance thru well delivery processes and using competitive benchmarking. Champion these processes for your projects and drive operational excellence.
* Actively drive the identification, development and implementation of new technologies.
* Interface with contractors regarding performance, future plans, variances, etc. as needed.
* Develop annual personal performance review/management documents including performance contracts, individual development plans (IDPs) and goals and performance appraisals (GPAs).
Requirements:
* Must have the legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
* Minimum seven (7) years relevant industry experience including completion and well intervention engineering and operations is required. Onshore experience is preferred.
* Bachelor''s of Science in relevant Engineering field from an accredited university is required
* Sound understanding of the process to deliver well opers including implementation of new technologies.
* Proven experience in the field as well as in an office-based environment for planning and executing daily operations support.
* Sound understanding of HSSE management techniques and the commitment to deliver HSSE performance.
* Experience dealing with competing priorities: decisions are made without undue delay, demonstrated flexibility regarding prioritization and re-deployment of resources/staff.
* Excellent people skills and exp working in a multi-discipline team environment.
