Onshore Gas (OG) manages a portfolio presently consisting of six core areas in North America.  We will develop and produce these areas in a manner competitive with or superior to our competition on a unit cost basis and by adhering to the stakeholder principles important to Shell. Responsibilities:

* Technical Excellence is adding Development Planners to support Upstream Americas portfolio of opportunities. Development Planners organizationally report through Development Engineering''s Technical Excellence group
* The development planner will work to maximize value of the opportunity and deliver project objectives in accordance with effective application of Shell''s ORM and appropriately scaled Global Processes
* He/she will advise on and manage development planning process activities including: Opportunity Framing, decision Roadmaps, Hydrocarbon Development scenario evaluation and analysis, decision analyses and integration (surface, subsurface, SD, business). Utilizing and implementing field development tools to enable project delivery is an essential part of the development planner role. Implementation of Discipline Controls Assurance Framework (DCAF) within the asset teams in UA,utilizing best practices and fit for purpose philosophy will be key
* Development Planners support leadership in their decision-making via Decision Review Board (DRB) Coaching and employing the principles and practices of quality decision-making and decision quality
* Candidate will be involved in a range of different projects being matured in the EP funnel for a range of customers whose project teams are located in Houston, New Orleans, Calgary, Denver and Pittsburgh
* Development Planning work typically results in project level integrated deliverables that play a key role in helping steer major project decisions. The business value of the individual projects being directly impacted by this work range will generally from tens of millions up to hundreds of millions of dollars, and occasionally into the billions

Requirements:

* Must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer
* Must have a bachelor''s degree in either Geoscience or Engineering
* Must have five (5) or more years of oil & gas experience in a Geoscience or Engineering discipline
* Must have project management experience
* The selected candidate is expected to bring a strong discipline background, opportunity maturation integration, and decision making (or the interest and desire to quickly learn)
* This role requires excellent inter-personal and technical skills to bring together a coherent picture supported by data and to align the various stakeholders
* Strong liaison abilities and a pro-active attitude are required when bringing together the various strands of discipline work
* Strong change management skills will be required to help raise our project delivery game
* These projects frequently require risk management and decision-making under short time constraints with limited data
* To be most effective, the Development Planner role must be one of real influence and stewardship in the decision process towards increasing value of Shell''s portfolio. Consequently, the successful applicant will be a respected and seasoned technical professional, while possessing excellent interpersonal skills
* Overtime occasionally required to manage overlapping priority demands and plan major project management workshops (e.g. Opportunity Frames). Travel is required occasionally (e.g. site visits).

As well the person will also have;

Keen interest in front-end project management/planning and the application of new technical concepts

Be able to determine critical work required for business decision-making

Manage and leverage uncertainty; multi-task and prioritize work; handle change and ambiguity; handle conflicting demands from multiple clients. Must have proven track record as an enthusiastic self starter

Excellent analytical ability

Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience designing and facilitating workshops
