APPOINTMENT: August 16, 2010.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Sociology preferred, ABD in Sociology required with expertise in Contemporary Sociological Theory and Qualitative Methods. Preference will be given to candidates with an expertise in the Symbolic Interactionist perspective.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: College teaching experience and record of scholarly activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: At the Macomb Campus of Western Illinois University, teach undergraduate and graduate sociology courses in Contemporary Sociological Theory and Qualitative Research Methods as well as introductory sociology and/or social problems courses. High quality teaching, research, and service is expected.

THE DEPARTMENT:The Department of Sociology and Anthropology has 23 full time faculty members (19 sociologists; 4 anthropologists) and 160 undergraduate sociology majors, 437 undergraduate sociology minors, 26 graduate sociology majors, and 38 anthropology minors. Departmental programs of study include B.A. in Sociology, B.A. in Anthropology, and M.A. in Sociology. Faculty members have a strong record of research and publication in their specialty areas as well as commitment to providing excellence in instruction of General Education courses (6 in sociology; 4 in anthropology). The Physical Sciences Library, the Music Library, the Curriculum Library, and the Quad Cities campus library are integral parts of the University's system that provides full service to students, faculty, and staff.
