Description
DuPont is seeking a Research Investigator that will provide analytical methods development, qualification, validation, improvement, troubleshooting and support to meet laboratory, effluent and production area needs. This position will support the Crop Protection business at the Mobile plant site in Axis, AL.
Primary Responsibilities:
*
Develop (develops, tests, validates, and writes) analytical methods in compliance with existing standards and guidelines in order to assure quality analysis of site products to support the business units.
*
Design and execute experiments that address method needs for existing products and effluent wastes.
*
Use Quality Tools to monitor and improve method performance.
*
Perform troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and advise appropriate resources regarding needed repairs.
*
Lead teams of operators/technicians in method improvement projects in order to correct and upgrade existing analytical methodology in accordance with customer needs.
*
Participate on/lead Analytical Technology Teams in order to schedule analytical work flow and workload to meet business unit needs.
*
Develop analytical tests based on a good understanding of the manufacturing process being supported in order to respond to process upsets, needs or area process improvement projects.
*
Perform all responsibilities in compliance with appropriate ISO standards in order to meet corporate and site quality standards.
*
Provide day to day support to the control laboratory in order to ensure quality data are produced.
*
Interpret the relevance and meaning of the analytical data to the manufacturing process in order to advise the manufacturing unit around data quality issues or any changes in data.
Qualifications
* M.S. or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or Separation Science.
* Demonstrated skills in analytical chemistry, including knowledge of the theory and hands-on application of Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, Spectroscopy (UV, IR, and Mass Spectroscopy) and Wet Chemistry techniques.
* Demonstrated skill in computer software and Chromatography Data Systems (i.e. Chemstations, Atlas)
* Demonstrated skill to troubleshoot problems utilizing knowledge of chemistry.
* Demonstrated skill to troubleshoot problems (diagnose and repair) with analytical instrumentation.
* Demonstrated ability to work safely and to give and receive guidance around the potential hazards of laboratory work.
* Demonstrated ability to work under a quality system, such as GLP or ISO. Capability to become Green Belt certified.
* Excellent Customer Focus to respond to customer needs and exceed expectations.
